2024–25 Los Angeles Kings Season
The 2024–25 Los Angeles Kings season was their 58th season for the National Hockey League (NHL) franchise that was established on June 5, 1967. On April 5, 2025, the Kings clinched a playoff berth for the fourth consecutive season after a 3–0 win against the rival Edmonton Oilers and the Calgary Flames overtime loss to the Vegas Golden Knights. On May 1, 2025, the Kings were eliminated from the first round of the playoffs for the fourth straight year after losing to the Edmonton Oilers in six games after initially taking the first two games before dropping four straight games to end their season. Off-season Rebrand During the 2024 offseason, the Los Angeles Kings underwent a major rebrand. After promoting their new logo on June 20, the Kings released their new logo and jerseys on June 26. Pacific Division (NHL)
The National Hockey League's Pacific Division was formed in 1993 as part of the Western Conference in a league realignment. It is also one of the two successors of the Smythe Division (the other one was the Northwest Division), though of the current teams, only the Anaheim Ducks, Seattle Kraken and Vegas Golden Knights did not play in the Smythe Division. Due to subsequent realignments, three of the Pacific Division's original teams (the Calgary Flames, Edmonton Oilers, and Vancouver Canucks) left the division in 1998 but returned in 2013. The division is the only one in the NHL without any Original Six teams. Erik Portillo (born 3 September 2000) is a Swedish professional ice hockey goaltender for the Ontario Reign of the American Hockey League (AHL) as a prospect for the Los Angeles Kings of the National Hockey League (NHL). Portillo was drafted in the third round, 67th overall, by the Buffalo Sabres in the 2019 NHL entry draft. Playing career Junior Portillo played for the Dubuque Fighting Saints of the United States Hockey League (USHL) during the 2019–20 season. He appeared in 27 games and posted a 19–5–1 record, leading the USHL with a 2.11 goals against average (GAA), and a .915 save percentage. The 2024–25 Buffalo Sabres season was the 55th season of play for the Sabres in the National Hockey League (NHL).
