2024–25 Colorado Avalanche Season
The 2024–25 Colorado Avalanche season was the 46th season for the Avalanche as the National Hockey League (NHL) franchise that joined the league in 1979, and their 29th playing season since the franchise relocated from Quebec City prior to the start of the 1995–96 NHL season. On October 16, 2024, after a 5–3 loss at home against the Boston Bruins, the Avalanche lost their first four games for the first time since 1998–99. On April 3, 2025, the Avalanche clinched their eighth straight playoff appearance after a 7–3 win over the Columbus Blue Jackets. In the first round, they faced the Dallas Stars, losing in seven games. Central Division (NHL)
The National Hockey League's Central Division was formed in 1993 as part of the Western Conference in a league realignment. Its predecessor was the Norris Division and its also one of two successors to the Northwest Division. The Chicago Blackhawks have been a member of the Central Division in all of its seasons since the original 1993 realignment. The Arizona Coyotes (as the original Winnipeg Jets), Dallas Stars and St. Louis Blues were also original members of the division, but were realigned to a different division for a while before returning; both the Coyotes and Stars were moved to the Pacific Division in 1998 (the Stars moved back to the Central in 2013, and the Coyotes followed in 2021), while the Blues were moved to the West Division during the temporary 2020–21 realignment. Scott Wedgewood
Scott Wedgewood (born August 14, 1992) is a Canadian professional ice hockey goaltender for the Colorado Avalanche of the National Hockey League (NHL). Wedgewood was selected by the New Jersey Devils in the third round (84th overall) of the 2010 NHL entry draft. Playing career New Jersey Devils During his fourth and final year of major junior hockey in the 2011–12 season with the Plymouth Whalers in the Ontario Hockey League, Wedgewood was signed by the New Jersey Devils to a three-year, entry-level contract on March 20, 2012. In the 2015–16 season, on March 20, 2016, he won his NHL debut for the Devils against the Columbus Blue Jackets. The 2024–25 Vegas Golden Knights season was the List of Vegas Golden Knights seasons, eighth season for the National Hockey League franchise that started playing in the 2017–18 NHL season, 2017–18 season. Justus Hermanni Annunen (born 11 March 2000), nicknamed "Juice" or "Big Juice", is a Finnish professional ice hockey goaltender for the Nashville Predators of the National Hockey League (NHL). He was selected by the Colorado Avalanche in the third-round, 64th overall, of the 2018 NHL entry draft. Playing career Finland Annunen first played as a 14-year old with Kiekko-Laser at the junior under-18 level in 2014. Showing promise at age 16, Annunen joined the ranks of Oulun Kärpät, leading the under-18 team in the 2016–17 season, with 30 appearances. 2024–25 Utah Hockey Club Season
The 2024–25 Utah Hockey Club season was the inaugural season for the National Hockey League (NHL) franchise. They played their home games at the Delta Center, shared with the Utah Jazz of the National Basketball Association (NBA). As part of a deal that rendered the Arizona Coyotes an inactive franchise, Utah was established with the existing roster, staff, and draft picks of the said franchise, in a similar move to the 1995 Cleveland Browns relocation controversy that established the Baltimore Ravens. For this season the team chose to use a generic ''Utah Hockey Club'' name until a permanent name was chosen. With a win against the San Jose Sharks on December 14, 2024, the team became the first NHL expansion franchise to win six consecutive away games in their first year. The 2024–25 Columbus Blue Jackets season was the 25th season for the National Hockey League franchise that was established on June 25, 1997. The season was marred by the tragic passing of star player Johnny Gaudreau, who, along with his brother Matthew, were killed while riding their bikes on August 29, 2024, after being hit from behind by a suspected drunk driver.
