2024–25 Vegas Golden Knights Season
The 2024–25 Vegas Golden Knights season was the List of Vegas Golden Knights seasons, eighth season for the National Hockey League franchise that started playing in the 2017–18 NHL season, 2017–18 season. On April 1, 2025, the Golden Knights clinched a playoff berth for the seventh time in eight seasons, following the 2024–25 Calgary Flames season, Calgary Flames' loss in regulation to the 2024–25 Utah Hockey Club season, Utah Hockey Club. Subsequently, on April 12, the Golden Knights clinched their fourth Pacific Division championship after defeating the 2024–25 Nashville Predators season, Nashville Predators 5–3 in regulation. The Golden Knights defeated the 2024–25 Minnesota Wild season, Minnesota Wild in the first round in six games before losing to the 2024–25 Edmonton Oilers season, Edmonton Oilers in the second round in five games. Pacific Division (NHL)
The National Hockey League's Pacific Division was formed in 1993 as part of the Western Conference in a league realignment. It is also one of the two successors of the Smythe Division (the other one was the Northwest Division), though of the current teams, only the Anaheim Ducks, Seattle Kraken and Vegas Golden Knights did not play in the Smythe Division. Due to subsequent realignments, three of the Pacific Division's original teams (the Calgary Flames, Edmonton Oilers, and Vancouver Canucks) left the division in 1998 but returned in 2013. The division is the only one in the NHL without any Original Six teams. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic and the resulting closure of the Canada–United States border, all eight teams were transferred into two different divisions for the 2020–21 NHL season. Akira Schmid
Akira Schmid (born 12 May 2000) is a Swiss professional ice hockey goaltender for the Vegas Golden Knights of the National Hockey League (NHL). He was selected by the New Jersey Devils in the fifth round, 136th overall, in the 2018 NHL entry draft. Playing career Schmid played most of his youth and junior ice hockey in the SCL Tigers system, appearing in just one game at the National League level, a relegation match in 2018. He was selected in the fifth round of the 2018 NHL entry draft at the end of the 2017–18 season, during which he was loaned multiple times from his junior team to professional teams within Switzerland. He moved to North America to start the 2018–19 season, playing three seasons in the United States Hockey League (USHL) for the Omaha Lancers and Sioux City Musketeers. The 2024–25 Colorado Avalanche season was the 46th season for the Avalanche as the National Hockey League (NHL) franchise that joined the league in 1979, and their 29th playing season since the franchise relocated from Quebec City prior to the start of the 1995–96 NHL season. Ilya Samsonov
Ilya Alexeyevich Samsonov (, ; born 22 February 1997) is a Russian professional ice hockey goaltender for the Vegas Golden Knights of the National Hockey League (NHL). Growing up in Magnitogorsk, Russia, Samsonov made his Kontinental Hockey League (KHL) debut playing in relief with Metallurg Magnitogorsk during the 2014–15 KHL season. After a successful junior season with Metallurg's Junior club, Stalnye Lisy, Samsonov was ranked as the top European Goalie in the 2015 NHL Entry Draft. He was eventually drafted 22nd overall by the Washington Capitals despite missing the scouting combine in Buffalo and conducting no interviews with the team. Isaiah Saville (born September 21, 2000) is an American professional ice hockey goaltender for the Ontario Reign of the American Hockey League (AHL). Saville was selected 135th overall in the fifth round of the 2019 NHL entry draft by the Vegas Golden Knights, playing parts of three seasons in their organization. He previously played junior in the North American Hockey League (NAHL) with the Minnesota Magicians and the United States Hockey League (USHL) with the Tri-City Storm, as well as NCAA collegiate hockey with the Omaha Mavericks. The 2024–25 Edmonton Oilers season was the 46th season for the National Hockey League (NHL) franchise that was established on June 22, 1979, and 53rd season for the organization overall, including their play in the World Hockey Association (WHA). 2024–25 Utah Hockey Club Season
The 2024–25 Utah Hockey Club season was the inaugural season for the National Hockey League (NHL) franchise. They played their home games at the Delta Center, shared with the Utah Jazz of the National Basketball Association (NBA). As part of a deal that rendered the Arizona Coyotes an inactive franchise, Utah was established with the existing roster, staff, and draft picks of the said franchise, in a similar move to the 1995 Cleveland Browns relocation controversy that established the Baltimore Ravens. For this season the team chose to use a generic ''Utah Hockey Club'' name until a permanent name was chosen.
