2024–25 Carolina Hurricanes Season
The 2024–25 Carolina Hurricanes season was the 46th season (45th season of play) for the National Hockey League (NHL) franchise that was established in June 1979, and the 27th season since the franchise relocated from the Hartford Whalers to start the 1997–98 season. On April 2, 2025, the Hurricanes clinched their seventh consecutive playoff spot after they won in regulation against the Washington Capitals. In the playoffs, the Hurricanes defeated the New Jersey Devils in five games in the first round, defeated the Washington Capitals in five games in the second round, but lost to the eventual Stanley Cup champion Florida Panthers in five games in the Eastern Conference Finals. Off-season On May 24, 2024, Don Waddell resigned as GM and President after 6 seasons. Eric Tulsky was named interim general manager that same day. Metropolitan Division
The National Hockey League's Metropolitan Division (often referred to simply as the "Metro Division") was formed in 2013 as one of the two divisions in the Eastern Conference (NHL), Eastern Conference as part of a league realignment. It is also a successor of the original Atlantic Division (NHL, 1993–2013), Atlantic Division and one of the two successors to the Southeast Division (NHL), Southeast Division. Six of its teams were previously together in the Patrick Division from 1981 to 1993 (one joined in 1982). It is the only NHL division without a Canadian team, with five of the division's clubs located in either the New York metropolitan area, New York City area or in Pennsylvania and the other three in North Carolina, Ohio, and Washington, D.C. Pyotr Kochetkov
Pyotr Anatolevich Kochetkov (; born 25 June 1999) is a Russian professional ice hockey goaltender for the Carolina Hurricanes of the National Hockey League (NHL). He was ranked as the top eligible international goaltender for the 2019 NHL entry draft, and was drafted in the second round (36th overall) by the Hurricanes. Kochetkov made his NHL debut in 2022 with the Hurricanes. Playing career Kochetkov first played as a youth within hometown club Dizel Penza. While with the Dizel Sports Academy, Kochetkov helped the claim the Volga region championship in 2011. With the ambition to play in the Junior Hockey League (Russia), MHL, Kochetkov joined Ak Bars Kazan under-18 junior program for the 2015–16 season, however received sparse playing time, resulting in his return to Dizel Penza of the Supreme Hockey League (VHL) prior to the 2016–17 season as a 17-year old.
