2024–25 Buffalo Sabres Season
The 2024–25 Buffalo Sabres season was the 55th season of play for the Sabres in the National Hockey League (NHL). It was the team's first season with Lindy Ruff back as head coach since 2012-13 Buffalo Sabres season, 2013. The Sabres suffered a 13-game winless streak in late November and early December that dropped them to last place in the Eastern Conference (NHL), Eastern Conference for much of the season. Despite this, the Sabres gained a hot streak towards the end of March and early April that kept their faint playoff hopes alive in a tight conference, but it was ultimately in vain as they were finally eliminated on April 8, 2025, when the 2024–25 Montreal Canadiens season, Montreal Canadiens beat the 2024–25 Detroit Red Wings season, Detroit Red Wings. As a result, Buffalo missed the postseason for the 14th consecutive season, continuing the longest playoff drought in NHL history. The Atlantic Division is a name used by the National Hockey League to describe a division of teams in the Eastern Conference (NHL), Eastern Conference. The original Atlantic Division, the predecessor of which was the Patrick Division, was formed in 1993 as part of the Eastern Conference in a league realignment. 2024–25 Edmonton Oilers Season
The 2024–25 Edmonton Oilers season was the 46th season for the National Hockey League (NHL) franchise that was established on June 22, 1979, and 53rd season for the organization overall, including their play in the World Hockey Association (WHA). On April 11, 2025, the Oilers clinched their sixth consecutive playoff spot after a 4–2 win over the San Jose Sharks. In the playoffs, after starting the series down 0–2 against the Los Angeles Kings, the Oilers won four straight games to eliminate the Kings. The Oilers then dispatched the Vegas Golden Knights in five games in the second round. In a rematch of the previous year's Western Conference finals, the Oilers defeated the Dallas Stars in five games and made the 2025 Stanley Cup Finals for a rematch against the Florida Panthers, who won in 2024. The 2024–25 Dallas Stars season was the 58th season (57th season of play) for the National Hockey League (NHL) franchise that was established on June 5, 1967, and the 32nd season since the franchise relocated from Minnesota prior to the start of the 1993–94 season. On March 29, 2025, the Stars clinched a playoff spot for the fourth straight season and sixth in the last seven seasons with a win over the Seattle Kraken. In the playoffs, the Stars defeated the Colorado Avalanche in the first round in seven games, defeated the Winnipeg Jets in the second round in six games, but lost to the Edmonton Oilers in five games in the Western Conference finals.
