Tatyana Shikolenko
Tatyana Ivanovna Shikolenko (russian: Татьяна Ивановна Шиколенко; born 10 May 1968 in Krasnodar) is a retired Russian track and field athlete who competed in the javelin throw. During her career, she won two silver medals at the World Championships. Her personal best throw of 67.20 metres was achieved in 2000. She battled primarily with Mirela Manjani, who captured the gold medal on both occasions Shikolenko finished second. After the dissolution of the Soviet Union, Tatyana Shikolenko represented Belarus for a while until switching nationality to her birth country Russia in 1996. Her sister Natalya also achieved distinction in javelin throwing; she however remained a Belarusian citizen. 2001 World Championships In Athletics
The 8th World Championships in Athletics, under the auspices of the International Association of Athletics Federations, were held at Commonwealth Stadium in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada between 3 August and 12 August and was the first time the event had visited North America. The music for the Opening and Closing Ceremonies was composed by Canadian composers Jan Randall and Cassius Khan. The ceremonies also featured a 1000 voice choir, and the Edmonton Symphony Orchestra. Edmonton defeated bids from Paris, France (which hosted the next edition) and the San Francisco Bay Area in the United States to host the event. 2000 IAAF Grand Prix Final
The 2000 IAAF Grand Prix Final was the sixteenth edition of the season-ending competition for the IAAF Grand Prix track and field circuit, organised by the International Association of Athletics Federations. It was held on 5 October at the Khalifa International Stadium in Doha, Qatar. It was the first and only time that the event was held outside of September, due in part to Qatar's hot desert climate. Angelo Taylor (400 metres hurdles) and Trine Hattestad (javelin throw) were the overall points winners of the tournament.
