The VSI Group (Voice and Script International Ltd.) is a major provider of dubbing, subtitle captioning, voice-over, translation and post-production services within the broadcast and corporate communications industries. The VSI Group consists of 24 studios and production facilities. VSI London, the Group's central hub and headquarters, is where most of the larger projects and international channel launches are managed. Established in 1989, VSI employs over 250 staff and utilizes a network of approximately 3,500 freelance translators worldwide, localizing over 100,000 programme hours into over 40 languages each year. Dubbing (filmmaking)
Dubbing (re-recording and mixing) is a post-production process used in filmmaking and video production, often in concert with sound design, in which additional or supplementary recordings are lip-synced and "mixed" with original production sound to create the finished soundtrack. The process usually takes place on a dub stage. After sound editors edit and prepare all the necessary tracks—dialogue, automated dialogue replacement (ADR), effects, Foley, and music—the dubbing mixers proceed to balance all of the elements and record the finished soundtrack. Dubbing is sometimes confused with ADR, also known as "additional dialogue replacement", "automated dialogue recording" and "looping", in which the original actors re-record and synchronize audio segments.
