Swarup Dutta
Swarup Dutta (22 June 1941 – 24 July 2019) was a Bengali actor. His son Saron Dutta is a director in Bengali film industry. Early life Dutta was born in famous Dutta family of Hatkhola, Kolkata in 1941. In 1958 he passed Matriculation from the South Point School and completed I.A. from Ramakrishna Mission Vidyamandira. Dutta graduated in economics from St. Xavier's College, Kolkata. Career During his school days Dutta came into contact with veteran actor Utpal Dutt. He also performed with Utpal Dutt on stage. First breakthrough of his career is Apanjan, a popular drama film of Tapan Sinha released in 1968. This movie won the National Film Award. He played the role of hero and versatile parts in a number of Bengali films of the late 60s and early 70s. Dutta also acted in Hindi film Uphaar with Jaya Bhaduri in 1971. ''Andha Atit'' is a Bengali thriller drama film directed by Hiren Nag and produced by Asim Sarkar. The film was released on 7 July 1972 in the banner of Usha Films, starring Uttam Kumar, Supriya Devi, Kali Banerjee and Swarup Dutta. The music director was Shyamal Mitra. Plot Rakhal Das is a poor employee of the Postal department who is in severe need of money for the treatment of his only son. As a last resort, Rakhal takes the mail bag and drops it from a running train so that he can get it later. At the same time, a municipal van drops all the garbage there. He cannot find the bag or money so he goes to a moneylender named Dhananjay Das but he finds him dead and the police arrest him for the case of murder and theft. Years later, an excavation is going on and the said mail bag is found. A mystery begins from an old letter which was recovered from the garbage. Kony (film)
''Koni'' ( bn, কোনি; sometimes spells as ''Koney'' or ''Kony'') is a national award-winning Bengali movie released in 1984 directed by Saroj Dey, starring Soumitra Chatterjee and Sriparna Banerjee. This film is an adaptation of a Bengali novel by the same name written by Moti Nandi. The film is about a girl living in Calcutta slums, who with the help of her coach triumphs over poverty and hardships. The film's lead Sriparna Banerjee was also a professional swimmer herself in the 1970s and at the time of casting a student of Jadavpur University. In a 2012 interview, veteran actor, Soumitra Chatterjee, called Koni one of the best films of his career.
