Shahid Uddin Ahmed Selim
Shahid Uddin Ahmed Selim ( 1952 – 5 January 2022) was a Bangladeshi football coach and former player. He spent his entire club career with Brothers Union and had both played and coached the Bangladesh national team. Selim captained Bangladesh during the 1980 AFC Asian Cup, which was the country's first ever appearance in a major tournament and also the only time they qualified for the AFC Asian Cup to date. Club career During the Liberation war in 1971, Brothers Union shut down the club's activities, after the war ended, Selim started reorganizing the players in 1972, and also managed to attain the services of Pakistani coach Abdul Gafur Baloch. During the early years of the club's rebirth, the players used to train in Selim's older brother Saifuddin Ahmed Manik's four-storey building in 48 Ramakrishna Mission Road, Gopibagh, due to the team's financial difficulties. Dhaka Senior Division Football League, also referred as First Division Football League, is the third tier of football league in Bangladesh. Until 2006, it was the top-tier league of the country. It was established in 1948 as Dhaka League, while Bangladesh was still under Pakistani control. Upon the creation of the new national top-tier professional league B. League in 2007, Dhaka League was merged with Dhaka First Division League, renamed as Dhaka Senior Division Football League and introduced as second tier league. Dhaka Mohammedan
Mohammedan Sporting Club Limited Dhaka, founded in 1936 at Dhaka, is one of the oldest and one of the most popular football clubs in Bangladesh, with a support base in all parts of the country. The club currently plays in the Bangladesh Premier League. History The clubs journey began in Hazaribagh. Members of the famed Nawab family of Dhaka wanted to establish a local club for the youth. Dhaka Third Division Football League is the fifth-tier football league in Bangladesh, as well as the third and lowest league division in Dhaka. It was established in 1948 as the third-tier of the Dhaka League, while Bangladesh was still under Pakistani rule. Currently the five top-finishing teams in the Super League round are automatically promoted to the Dhaka Second Division Football League. Monwar Hossain Nannu
Monwar Hossain Nannu (27 August 1948 – 16 February 2008) was a Bangladeshi professional football player during the 1970s and early 1980s. Initially, He played as an attacking midfielder for Abahani Limited Dhaka in Dhaka League. Following an injury in the mid 1970s, he moved to the central defender position and excelled in that position as well. He was a member of Bangladesh's first national football team. Merdeka Tournament
Merdeka Tournament or Pestabola Merdeka is a friendly football tournament held in Malaysia to commemorate the Independence Day. The competition bears the Malay word for independence. As of 2022, it has been held 40 times, and decreasingly in recent decades. Matches in Merdeka tournament considered International "A" matches (Friendly match) by FIFA. Its final has been mainly held at Stadium Merdeka, Kuala Lumpur.
