''The Daily Prothom Alo'' ( bn, প্রথম আলো) is a daily newspaper in Bangladesh, published from Dhaka in the Bengali language. It is the largest circulated newspaper in Bangladesh. According to National Media Survey 2018, conducted by Kantar MRB Bangladesh, ''Prothom Alo'' has more than 6.6 million daily readership online. According to Alexa Internet, an American web traffic analysis company, the online portal of ''Prothom Alo'' is the most visited Bengal website in the world. History ''Prothom Alo'' was founded on 4 November 1998. The circulation of ''Prothom Alo'' grew from an initial circulation of 42,000 to a circulation of a half million copies. Bangladesh Mathematics Olympiad
The Bangladesh Mathematical Olympiad is an annual mathematical competition arranged for school and college students to nourish their interest and capabilities for mathematics. It has been regularly organized by the Bangladesh Math Olympiad Committee since 2001. Bangladesh Math Olympiad activities started in 2003 formally. The first Math Olympiad was held in Shahjalal University of Science and Technology. Mohammad Kaykobad, Muhammad Zafar Iqbal and Munir Hasan were instrumental in its establishment. The ''Daily Naya Diganta'' ( bn, দৈনিক নয়া দিগন্ত ''Doinik Noya Digonto'') is a Bengali daily newspaper published in Bangladesh since 2004. History It is part of Diganta Media Corporation which was owned by Mir Quasem Ali, a Jammat-e-Islami Bangladesh politician. The television channel, Diganta TV, is a sister concern of the newspaper. The television was launched in August 2008. Alamgir Mohiuddin is the editor of Naya Diganta. 2007 Bangladesh Cartoon Controversy
The 2007 Bangladesh cartoon controversy began after an editorial cartoon was published in the 431st edition of ''Alpin'' ( bn, আলপিন), a featured supplement of the Bangladeshi newspaper ''Prothom Alo'', on 17 September 2007. The cartoon featured a conversation between an elderly man and a boy culminating in the boy making a joke using the name of the Islamic prophet Muhammad. Bangladeshi Muslim organisations, who objected to the cartoon, responded by holding public protests which led to violence and street clashes, even though such demonstrations have been banned by the interim caretaker government.
