Netball In The Americas
World Netball's Americas region includes North America, South America, Central America and the Caribbean. The region covers 54 nations, of which 15 have national governing bodies as of 2021. Each year, the region hosts two tournaments: the CNA U16 Championship and the AFNA Senior Championship. World Netball was formerly called the "International Netball Federation" or INF. Netball is most popular in Commonwealth countries, such as Antigua and Barbuda and Grenada. As of August 2016, several teams in the region ranked amongst the top thirty-five in the world, including Jamaica (4th), Trinidad & Tobago (9th) Barbados (13th), Canada (18th), Grenada (22nd), Saint Lucia (24th), the United States of America (28th) and Argentina (35th). World Netball, previously known as the International Netball Federation and the International Federation of Netball Associations, is the worldwide governing body for Netball. The INF was created in 1960 and is responsible for world rankings, maintaining the rules for netball and organising the Netball World Cup and Netball at the Commonwealth Games In June 2021 INF announced an official rebrand and became known as World Netball. World University Netball Championship
The World University Championships are organized by the Fédération Internationale du Sport Universitaire (FISU). In July, 2012, the first World University Netball Championship was held in Cape Town, South Africa. The South African Federation of University Sports organised the event. It is a women's indoor tournament with a maximum of 12 teams competing. 12 competitors and 5 officials are allowed per team. The venue of the first championship was the Good Hope Sports Centre in Cape Town, July 2–7, 2012. The winners were England, who beat South Africa in the finals. The winners of the inaugural tournament were England, edging out South Africa in the grand final in a close game that went into overtime. Jamaica came 3rd, beating Ireland 41-30 for the bronze medal. International University Sports Federation
The Fédération Internationale du Sport Universitaire (FISU, en, International University Sports Federation) is responsible for the organization and governance of worldwide sports competitions for student-athletes between the ages of 17 and 25. It was founded in 1949 as the world governing body of national university sports organizations and currently has 174 member associations (National University Sport Federations) from five continents.
