Hans-Lothar Domröse
General Hans-Lothar Domröse (born 28 December 1952) is a senior German Army officer, former Commander of Allied Joint Force Command Brunssum. Army career Domröse joined the German Bundeswehr in 1973, serving as a second lieutenant in the Panzergrenadierbataillon 23 (Mechanised Infantry Battalion 23). He studied Economic and Organisational Sciences at the Bundeswehr University of Hamburg, and upon his graduation in 1977 joined the Mechanised Infantry Battalion 82, serving as a platoon commander. In 1979 Domröse was appointed as an intelligence officer, and in 1980 became commander of the 2nd Company, Mechanised Infantry Battalion 82. Between 1984 and 1986, he attended the Command and General Staff Officer Course at the Bundeswehr Command and Staff College in Hamburg. When he graduated Domröse became the assistant chief of staff at the Headquarters of the 11th Armoured Division. German Armed Forces Deployment Medal
The German Armed Forces Deployment Medal (german: Einsatzmedaille der Bundeswehr) is a decoration of the Bundeswehr, the armed forces of the Federal Republic of Germany. The decoration is awarded for military service in a designated military campaign. It is awarded to all German soldiers regardless of rank. It is also the only type of German campaign medal awarded, the only difference is the campaign bar worn on the medal and ribbon. Grades The decoration has three grades. The Decorations of Honour of the Bundeswehr (german: Ehrenzeichen der Bundeswehr) are a series of military decorations of the Bundeswehr, the armed forces of the Federal Republic of Germany. These honours and awards were introduced in 1980 on the occasion of the 25th anniversary of the Bundeswehr by then Minister of Defence Hans Apel and subsequently approved by President of the Federal Republic Karl Carstens. The first awards were made on November 6, 1980. In 2008, the decorations were updated and received three grades exclusively reserved for heroic deeds.
