Dr. Atif Abdelmageed Abdelrahman Ahmed from Khartoum, Sudan ( ar, عاطف عبد المجيد; born June 7) serves as Executive Director of the Arab Regional Scout Office of the World Scout Bureau. In 2006, he was named Director of the Arab Region. He was previously in charge of the Sudanese Air Scout program, and is a gliding pilot. He studied Medicine at the University of Juba and Pennsylvania State University, worked for the World Health Organization, lived in Omdurman, and lives in Nasr City, a district of Cairo, Egypt. Khartoum
Khartoum or Khartum ( ; ar, الخرطوم, Al-Khurṭūm, din, Kaartuɔ̈m) is the capital of Sudan. With a population of 5,274,321, its metropolitan area is the largest in Sudan. It is located at the confluence of the White Nile, flowing north from Lake Victoria, and the Blue Nile, flowing west from Lake Tana in Ethiopia. The place where the two Niles meet is known as ''al-Mogran'' or ''al-Muqran'' (; English: "The Confluence"). From there, the Nile continues north towards Egypt and the Mediterranean Sea. Nasr City
Nasr City ( ar, مدينة نصر ) is a district of Cairo, Egypt. It is located to the east of the Cairo Governorate and consists mostly of condominia. It was established in the 1960s as an extension to neighboring settlement of Heliopolis. The establishment of the district was part of the Egyptian Government's plan to modernise and expand Cairo following the Egyptian Revolution of 1952. Gamal Abdel Nasser, the Egyptian President at the time, was involved personally in the design process, and was the one who chose the name Nasr for the new district ("''nasr''" being the Arabic word for "victory"). During the early stages of the project it was envisioned that it would constitute a new capital city. Omdurman (standard ar, أم درمان ''Umm Durmān'') is a city in Sudan. It is the most populated city in the country, and thus also in the State of Khartoum. Omdurman lies on the west bank of the River Nile, opposite and northwest of the capital city of Khartoum.
