Alexander König
Alexander König (born 23 August 1966) is a German figure skating coach and former competitor. Competing in pairs with Peggy Schwarz, he became the 1988 European bronze medalist and placed seventh at three Winter Olympics. As a single skater, he is the 1982 World Junior bronze medalist. Personal life König was born on 23 August 1966 in Eilenburg, Bezirk Leipzig, East Germany. In 1969, his family moved to Berlin. From 1985 to 1988, he attended school to become a specialist in gastronomy. From 1994 to 1997, he studied sport at the Trainerakademie in Cologne. Career Competitive career König began learning to skate in Berlin and would become a member of SC Dynamo Berlin. Inge Wischnewski was one of his first coaches at the club. Deutsche Eislauf-Union
The German Ice Skating Union (german: Deutsche Eislauf-Union, DEU) is the national amateur association for figure skating and ice dancing in Germany. The various German ice sports associations constitute the membership of the DEU; individuals cannot become members. The Deutsche Eislauf-Union was formed in June 1964 in Hamburg to promote professional ice skating in its many forms, to recognize achievements in figure skating and ice dancing, and to provide educational opportunities for ice skating professionals. The 1994 Winter Olympics figure skating competition was held at the Hamar Olympic Amphitheatre. Qualifying As the host country, Norway automatically qualified spots to the 1994 Olympics. In 1992, however, the Norwegian Olympic Committee announced that skaters aspiring to be selected for Norway would have to finish in the top 12 at the European or World Championships. Since none met this requirement, Norway decided to have no competitors in figure skating at the Olympics. Although Leslie Monod / Cédric Monod's result at the 1993 World Championships allowed Switzerland to send two pairs to the Olympics, the Swiss Olympic Association elected not to send a pair after the Monods finished 11th at the 1994 European Championships. The figure skating events at the 1992 Winter Olympic Games were held at the Halle Olympique located next to the Théâtre des Cérémonies, two kilometres southwest of downtown Albertville. The final placements were decided by factored placements. In the men's singles, ladies' singles and the pairs event, the short program (SP) was factored by 0.5, one-third (33.3%) of the total score, while the free skating (FS) was factored by 1.0, two-thirds (66.7%) of the total score. In ice dance, the two compulsory dances (CD) were factored by a total of 0.4 (0.2 each dance), which was 20% of the total score (10% each dance). The original dance (OD) was factored by 0.6 (30% of the total score), while the free dance (FD) was factored by 1.0 (50% of the total score). Knut Schubert
Knut Schubert (born 9 September 1958 in Bautzen, East Germany) is a former East German pair skater. With his sister, Katja Schubert, he won the bronze medal at the 1974 East German Figure Skating Championships. They went on to finish ninth at that year's European Figure Skating Championships and eleventh at the World Figure Skating Championships. Schubert later teamed up with Birgit Lorenz. They won the gold medal at the East German Championships in 1981 and 1985, and captured the silver medal in four additional years. The couple won the bronze at the European Championships in 1983 and 1984 and finished fifth at the 1984 Winter Olympic Games. They also finished a career-best sixth place at the 1984 World Championships. After his figure skating career he studied teaching special subject sport.
