Yunlin County
Yunlin County (Mandarin pinyin: ''Yúnlín Xiàn''; Taigi POJ: ''Hûn-lîm-koān''; Hakka PFS: ''Yùn-lìm-yen'') is a county in western Taiwan. Yunlin County borders the Taiwan Strait to the west, Nantou County to the east, Changhua County to the north at the Zhuoshui River, and Chiayi County to the south at the Beigang River. Yunlin is part of the Chianan Plain, a flat land known for its agriculture. Agricultural products of Yunlin County include pomelo, tea leaves, suan cai, papaya and muskmelon. Yunlin's rivers give it potential for hydroelectricity. Douliu is the largest and capital city of Yunlin. It is the only county on the main island of Taiwan where no city with the same name exists. Douliu
Douliu (Hokkien POJ: ''Táu-la̍k'') is a county-administered city and the county seat of Yunlin County, Taiwan. It is also the political and economic center of the county. Douliu City is served by National Highway No. 3. Name Its former name () came from a language of the Hoanya people, a tribe of the Taiwanese plains aborigines. History Empire of Japan In 1901, during Japanese rule, was one of twenty local administrative offices established. In 1909, part of Toroku was merged into , while the remainder was merged with . In 1920, was established and governed under , Tainan Prefecture. Toroku Town covered modern-day Douliu and Linnei Township. Chang Li-shan
Chang Li-shan (; born 1 January 1964) is a Taiwanese politician. She served on the Legislative Yuan from 2005 to 2008, and again from 2016 to 2018, when she was elected magistrate of Yunlin County. Personal life and education Chang Li-shan attended Makuang Elementary School in Tuku, Yunlin, then enrolled at Tuku Junior High School before graduating from . Chang obtained her degree at National Formosa University. Her older brother is . She is married to . Political career Legislative Yuan (first term) Chang was elected to the Legislative Yuan in December 2004, as an independent. She won election from Yunlin County handily, with over 51,000 votes supporting her candidacy. In May 2005, fellow legislator sued Chang for slapping her while the two lawmakers were lobbying the World Health Assembly in Geneva to admit Taiwan as an observer to the body. Yunlin County Council
The Yunlin County Council (YLCC; ) is the elected county council of Yunlin County, Republic of China. The council composes of 43 councilors lastly elected through the 2018 Republic of China local election on 24 November 2018. History The current county council building was completed and started its operation on 27 September 2001. Architecture The county council building has a 1,090 m2 area of session room.
