''Yoosuf'' is a 2008 Maldivian romantic drama film written and directed by Fathimath Nahula. Produced under Crystal Entertainment, the film stars Yoosuf Shafeeu, Niuma Mohamed, Sheela Najeeb, Mohamed Manik, Ahmed Nimal and Ahmed Lais Asim in pivotal roles. The film received widespread critical acclaim and was one of the Maldivian all-time highest grossing films. The film was Maldivian official entry at 2009 SAARC Film Festivals and holds the privilege of being the opening movie of the festival. Plot Yasir (Ahmed Nimal) reluctantly accepts a mute and deaf man, Yoosuf Ali (Yoosuf Shafeeu) as a servant at his house. His daughters, Usha Yasir ( Niuma Mohamed) and Leesa (Zeenath Abbas) have a hard time welcoming a man as an attendant. Fathimath Nahula (born 22 June 1973) is a Maldivian film director, film producer and screenwriter. Early life In 1991, Nahula joined Jamaluddin school and worked as a teacher for four years. During the time, she spends most of her time in writing and developing stories. She then penned dialogues and stories for several films and television dramas produced by Television Maldives while publishing handful of them on different platforms including newspapers and magazines. Aiming to deliver the real emotions she write on the paper, Nahula decided to pursue a career in film direction. Ahmed Saeed is a Maldivian film actor and director. Career 1997–2010: Debut and early releases On 13 June 1997, Saeed made his screen debut in a video single alongside Hassan Afeef and Mariyam Nisha. Afterwards, he played a role in Yoosuf Rafeeu's ''Dhiriulhumakee Mieebaa?''. He made his official film debut in Fathimath Nahula's debut direction '' Fahuneyvaa'' (1998), starring opposite Hussain Sobah, Jamsheedha Ahmed and Mariyam Nisha which portrays the love-conflict of a man between a prominent stage performer and a deaf-mute poor girl. Saeed played the role of Ahmed, a childhood friend of Ziyan who secretly marries two girls. Mariyam Unoosha (born 6 October 1985), known mononymously as Unoosha is a Maldivian female singer and songwriter. She is from a prominent Maldivian singing family. Her parents were in the 90s famous band " Olympians". She has won many awards and has performed in various high caliber shows in Maldives and abroad. Ibrahim Zaid Ali (born 15 April 1978), commonly known as Kuda Ibbe is a Maldivian singer and music composer. Early life and career Since childhood, Ali had been listening to all genres of songs from Bollywood classical to hip-hop to heavy metal music. At the age of seven, Ali fabricated music equipment including guitar and drum using wood, plywood and tin, where he used these self-made instruments to perform songs in the football stadium. Abdul Baaree
Abdul Bari Aboobakur commonly spelled as Abdul Baree (20 March 1967) is a former Maldivian singer. Career In 1990, Baaree started performing in the "Aksheeba" shows without any charge, which helped in gaining recognition from music lovers. Mumthaz Moosa is a Maldivian former singer. Career Mumthaz was first heard in the early 2000s where he appeared in some of the local stage shows being performed at that time. After his talent was recognized by the music directors, he was offered to record several songs for studio albums and feature films where the songs "Reydhuvaa Gunamun" from ''Rasfarihi'' (2003) and "Hibakuramey" from ''Saahil'' (2004) were some of his earlier releases in his professional career. Hussain Sobah
Hussain Sobah (11 November 1972) is a Maldivian film actor, music composer and playback singer. Career In 1995, Sobah featured in Mohamed Shiyaz's '' Dhushman'' alongside Mariyam Nisha, Aminath Rasheedha and Hamid Ali in pivotal roles. In the film, he plays the character Riyaz, an underprivileged young man who loses his girlfriend over social discrimination. Mohamed Abdul Ghanee
Mohamed Abdul Ghanee (born 15 April 1978), commonly known as Theyravaa is a Maldivian singer and songwriter. Early life and career Born to a musical family, Ghanee had no interest in music even when his siblings spend their time in jamming and singing. While studying at Madhrasathul Ifthithaah, he participated in the Inter-house singing competition, on a request by his elder brother. His performance was well noted by judges and received several prizes. Hassan Ilham is a Maldivian singer. Career Ilham made his career debut in the late 1990s though his professional career is noted to be initiated in the year 2000 with the studio album ''Hamaroalhi'' where he rendered ten songs for it.
