''Um Amor Infinito'' (English: "An Infinite Love") is the seventh studio album by Portuguese group Madredeus. It was released on 17 May 2004 by EMI-Valentim de Carvalho. Recording ''Um Amor Infinito'' was recorded in February 2004 at the Xangrilá Studios in Lisbon, Portugal. The mixing was done at the Garate Studios in San Sebastian, Spain, in March 2004. Valentim de Carvalho () is a Portuguese record label founded in 1914. History The company started selling phonograph, musical instruments and music since its 1914 foundation at the Rua da Assunção, Lisbon. It distributes EMI in Portugal since 1920. VDC also carved names in the Portuguese music industry like Amália Rodrigues, António Variações and, most recently, Os Pontos Negros. It has two sub-labels: Popular and NorteSul. In 1994, the company was merged with EMI to form EMI-Valentim de Carvalho and also distributed UMG Portugal. Pedro Aires Ferreira de Almeida Gonçalves Magalhães (born 31 July 1959), known as Pedro Ayres Magalhães, is a Portuguese musician, best known as a founding member and the main songwriter of the musical group Madredeus. Magalhães has also been a member of the pop rock band Heróis do Mar and the Portuguese supergroup Resistência. Early life Pedro Ayres Magalhães was born on 31 July 1959. He attended the Colégio Militar in Lisbon until the 5th grade, quitting shortly after the Carnation Revolution. Madredeus () are a Portuguese musical ensemble formed in 1985, in Lisbon. Their music combines traditional Portuguese music, fado and folk music. Madredeus are one of the most successful music groups from Portugal, having sold over 3 million albums worldwide. History 1985–1993: Formation and first lineup Madredeus' first lineup consisted of Pedro Ayres Magalhães (classical guitar), Rodrigo Leão (keyboard synthesizer), Francisco Ribeiro (cello), Gabriel Gomes (accordion) and Teresa Salgueiro (vocals). Maria Teresa de Almeida Salgueiro OIH () is a Portuguese singer. She is best known as the lead singer of Madredeus from 1987 until 2007. She also appeared in Wim Wenders' film '' Lisbon Story.'' Career Salgueiro joined Madredeus after other members noticed her singing at a bar in Lisbon. She left Madredeus in November 2007 to focus on solo work. In 2007, Salgueiro performed a concert of Neapolitan music at the Teatro di San Carlo with the Solis String Quartet. Daniel Blaufuks
Daniel Blaufuks (born 1963) is a Portuguese photographer. Life and work Blaufuks was born in Lisbon. He is the grandson of Polish and German Ashkenazi Jews who moved to Portugal in the late 1920s and 1930s. He moved to Germany in 1976 and returned to Portugal in 1983. He spent several years in the import business, which provided his first-and-last regular job. Blaufuks wanted to be a writer from an early age, but lacked confidence in his ability. He studied photography and started his free-lancing career at the weekly music newspaper ''Blitz'', followed by the newspaper O Independente and, later, the Portuguese Marie Claire and others.
