Madredeus
Madredeus () are a Portuguese musical ensemble formed in 1985, in Lisbon. Their music combines traditional Portuguese music, fado and folk music. Madredeus are one of the most successful music groups from Portugal, having sold over 3 million albums worldwide. History 1985–1993: Formation and first lineup Madredeus' first lineup consisted of Pedro Ayres Magalhães (classical guitar), Rodrigo Leão (keyboard synthesizer), Francisco Ribeiro (cello), Gabriel Gomes (accordion) and Teresa Salgueiro (vocals). Magalhães and Leão formed the band in 1985, Ribeiro and Gomes joined in 1986. In search of a female singer, they found Teresa Salgueiro in one of Lisbon's night clubs. Pedro Ayres Magalhães
Pedro Aires Ferreira de Almeida Gonçalves Magalhães (born 31 July 1959), known as Pedro Ayres Magalhães, is a Portuguese musician, best known as a founding member and the main songwriter of the musical group Madredeus. Magalhães has also been a member of the pop rock band Heróis do Mar and the Portuguese supergroup Resistência. Early life Pedro Ayres Magalhães was born on 31 July 1959. He attended the Colégio Militar in Lisbon until the 5th grade, quitting shortly after the Carnation Revolution. Afterwards he joined the Academy of Musical Amateurs (''Academia dos Amadores de Música''), where he stayed until the age of 20. Magalhães studied music and classical guitar during his youth. ''Os Dias da MadreDeus'' (English: "The days of MadreDeus") is the debut studio album by Portuguese group Madredeus. It was released in December 1987 by EMI-Valentim de Carvalho. Recording ''Os Dias da MadreDeus'' was recorded between 28 and 30 July 1987, at the Teatro Ibérico facilities in the old Church of the Xabregas Convent, in Lisbon. ''Existir'' (English: "To exist") is the second studio album by Portuguese group Madredeus. It was released on 12 May 1990 through EMI-Valentim de Carvalho. Style The music in ''Existir'' uses the same instrumentation as its predecessor, with classical guitar, keyboards, accordion, cello and vocals by Teresa Salgueiro. It combines Portuguese folk with the additional use of keyboards and synthesizers. Reception ''Existir'' reached number one in the Portuguese album charts and was 4 weeks at the top position. It was released on 7 March 1995 by EMI-Valentim de Carvalho. Recording ''Ainda'' was recorded between 27 March and 5 May 1994 at the Great Linford Manor and Lansdowne Recording Studios, in England. Recording and mixing were done by António Pinheiro da Silva and Jonathan Miller. The mixing was done at the Tritonius Studios in Berlin, in October 1994. Maria Teresa de Almeida Salgueiro OIH () is a Portuguese singer. She is best known as the lead singer of Madredeus from 1987 until 2007. She also appeared in Wim Wenders' film '' Lisbon Story.'' Career Salgueiro joined Madredeus after other members noticed her singing at a bar in Lisbon. She left Madredeus in November 2007 to focus on solo work. In 2007, Salgueiro performed a concert of Neapolitan music at the Teatro di San Carlo with the Solis String Quartet. In the same year, she released ''Você e Eu'' with Septeto de João Cristal; in this album, Salgueiro covers songs from well-known Brazilian artists such as Chico Buarque and Vinicius de Moraes. Rodrigo Costa Leão Muñoz Miguez (born 15 October 1964), known professionally as Rodrigo Leão, is a Portuguese musician and songwriter. He became known in the 1980s as a member of the Portuguese groups Sétima Legião and Madredeus. In the 1990s, Leão launched his career as a solo artist, with multiple albums reaching number-one in the Portuguese album charts. ''Lisbon Story'' ( pt, O Céu de Lisboa (Brasil); german: Lisbon Story) is a 1994 feature film directed by Wim Wenders. It was screened in the Un Certain Regard section at the 1995 Cannes Film Festival. As part of Lisbon's programme as the European City of Culture in 1994, Wenders and three Portuguese filmmakers were invited to make a documentary about the city. Sextet
A sextet (or hexad) is a formation containing exactly six members. Coliseu Dos Recreios
The Coliseu dos Recreios (also known as Coliseu de Lisboa) is a multi-purpose auditorium located in Lisbon, Portugal. History The main building was constructed within a metal lattice by Francisco Goulard between 1888 and 1890. While the facade was completed by Cesare Ianz. The building was inaugurated on 14 August 1890.
