Trikolones
Trikolonoi () is a former municipality in Arcadia, Peloponnese, Greece. Since the 2011 local government reform it is part of the municipality Gortynia, of which it is a municipal unit. The municipal unit has an area of 102.031 km2. The municipal unit includes the villages of Stemnitsa (the former municipal seat), Syrna, Pavlia, Palamari, Psari, Ano Kalyvia and Elliniko. Trikolonoi is located southeast of Dimitsana, west of Tripoli and north of Megalopoli. The place takes its name from the ancient town of Tricoloni. Syrna
Syrna () is a mountain village and a community in the municipal unit of Trikolonoi, western Arcadia, Greece. Syrna is situated on a mountain slope above the right bank of the river Alfeios, at about 800 m elevation. In 2011 Syrna had a population of 60 for the village and 62 for the community, which includes the village Ano Kalyvia. Syrna is 2 km northwest of Palamari, 4 km southeast of Elliniko, 6 km northeast of Karytaina and 6 km southeast of Stemnitsa. Elliniko, Arcadia
Elliniko (, before 1927: Μουλάτσι - ''Moulatsi'') is a mountain village in western Arcadia, Greece (the original village name of “Moulatsi” was referenced in Ottoman Empire documents as far back as 1515). It is part of the municipal unit of Trikolonoi. It is situated on a mountain slope on the left bank of the river Lousios. It is 4 km south of Stemnitsa, 4 km east of Atsicholos, 5 km northeast of Karytaina and 14 km northwest of Megalopoli. The ruins of the ancient city Gortys are on the right bank of the river Lousios, near the road from Elliniko to Atsicholos. Greek politician Dimitris Avramopoulos hails from Elliniko as well as prominent “multi generational” companies owned by the Fourlis and Kourouniotis Families. Pavlia () is a mountain village in the municipal unit of Trikolonoi, Arcadia, Greece. It is located at 700 m elevation on a mountain slope, overlooking the plain of Megalopoli. It is 2 km east of Palamari, 2 km west of Palaiomoiri, 4.5 km west of Lykochia, 9 km southeast of Stemnitsa and 14 km north of Megalopoli. The location of the ancient city Thyraion has been identified with that of the present village Pavlia. Palamari () is a mountain village and a community in the municipal unit Trikolonoi, in Arcadia, Greece. It is located on a mountain slope north of the valley of the river Alfeios, at about 700 m elevation. It is 2 km west of Pavlia, 7 km east of Karytaina, 8 km southeast of Stemnitsa and 10 km north of Megalopoli. The community includes the village Psari. The site of the ancient town of Thyraeum is located nearby. Tripoli, Greece
Tripoli (; ) is a city in the central part of the Peloponnese, in Greece. It is the capital of the Peloponnese region as well as of the regional unit of Arcadia. The homonymous municipality had 44,165 inhabitants in 2021. Etymology In the Middle Ages the place was known as Drobolitsa, Droboltsá, or Dorboglitza, either from the Greek Hydropolitsa, 'Water City' or perhaps from the South Slavic for 'Plain of Oaks'. Gortyna (), is a former municipality in Arcadia, Peloponnese, Greece. Since the 2011 local government reform it is part of the municipality Megalopoli, of which it is a municipal unit. Vytina (, ''Vytína'') is a mountain village and a former municipality in Arcadia (regional unit), Arcadia, Peloponnese (region), Peloponnese, Greece. It is considered a List of traditional settlements of Greece, traditional settlement. Since the 2011 local government reform it is part of the municipality Gortynia, of which it is a municipal unit. The municipal unit has an area of 139.309 km2. The seat of the municipality was the village Vytina. The village is located at the foot of the mountain range Mainalo. Megalopoli () is a town in the southwestern part of the regional unit of Arcadia (regional unit), Arcadia, southern Greece. It is located in the same site as ancient Megalopolis ( literally ''large/great city''). When it was founded in 371 BCE, it was the first large urbanization in Arcadia (region), rustic Arcadia. Its theatre had a capacity of 20,000 visitors, making it one of the largest ancient Greek theatres. Today Megalopoli has several schools, shops, churches, hotels and other services. The population of Megalopoli in 2021 was 5,344 residents.
