''The Daily Advocate'' is an American daily newspaper published Tuesday through Friday in Greenville, Ohio. It is owned by AIM Media Midwest. The ''Advocate'' is the leading newspaper of Darke County, Ohio, circulating in Greenville, Ansonia, Arcanum, Bradford, New Madison, Union City and Versailles, Ohio, as well as abutting smaller communities, and neighboring Union City, Indiana. The Advocate was founded by W.A. Browne, Sr. as an eight-page weekly newspaper in May 1883. Browne converted it to daily publication around January 1893, as the ''Daily Advocate''. Browne sold the paper to The Thomson Corporation, a Canadian publisher, which later sold it to Brown Publishing Company in 1996. Brown, a Cincinnati-based family business, declared bankruptcy and was reconstituted as Ohio Community Media in 2010. Weekly Newspaper
A weekly newspaper is a general-news or Current affairs (news format), current affairs publication that is issued once or twice a week in a wide variety broadsheet, magazine, and electronic publishing, digital formats. Similarly, a biweekly newspaper is published once every two weeks. Heartland Publications was a Connecticut-based owner of small to medium market newspapers, and started out by acquiring 24 publications from Community Newspaper Holdings, Inc. located in Georgia, Kentucky, North Carolina, Ohio, Oklahoma, Tennessee, and West Virginia. They acquired 5 additional publications from Mid-South Management Co., Inc. in 2005 and 2007, located in South Carolina, North Carolina, Georgia, Virginia, and West Virginia. Freedom Communications, Inc., was an American media conglomerate that operated daily and weekly newspapers, websites and mobile applications, as well as ''Coast Magazine'' and other specialty publications. Brown Publishing Company was a privately owned Cincinnati, Ohio, newspaper business started by Congressman Clarence J. Brown in Blanchester, Ohio in 1920. It ended 90 years of operations in August/September 2010 with its bankruptcy and sale of assets to a new company formed by its creditors and called Ohio Community Media Inc.
