Tetrix (band)
Tetrix (often stylized as TETRIX) is a Canadian psychedelic rock/improvised music band formed in Calgary. The band was formed in 2001 with the intention of exploring connections between jazz, psychedelic rock, hip hop, punk rock, folk and electronic music. The name Tetrix is derived from the popular computer game Tetris and the fractal Sierpinski triangle. Themes of freedom (philosophy), mathematics and mysticism appear throughout the band's music. The band has released 17 full-length albums on Calgary's Odin Audio label and a 12" compilation LP on Belgium's MeWe Le Disque Label. Tetrix has been featured in numerous publications including ''Fast Forward Weekly'', ''Beatroute'' and '' Gauntlet'' in Canada, ''Trax'' magazine in France and ''Voxer'' magazine across Europe. Calgary ( ) is the largest city in the western Canadian province of Alberta and the largest metro area of the three Prairie Provinces. CJSW
CJSW-FM is a campus radio station, broadcasting at 90.9 FM, from the University of Calgary, in Calgary, Alberta, Canada. CJSW is a member of the National Campus and Community Radio Association and the University of Calgary Tri-Media Alliance in partnership with NUTV (the campus television station) and The Gauntlet (the campus newspaper). CJSW's studios are located in the MacEwan Student Centre on the University of Calgary campus, with its transmitter located at Old Banff Coach Road and 85 Street Southwest. The station is run by a small group of paid staff and more than 200 campus and community volunteers. In addition to the FM broadcast, the station can be heard via Ogg Vorbis stream from its web site. ''The Gauntlet'' is a campus publication published by the Gauntlet Publications Society at the University of Calgary. Though commonly referred to as the "University of Calgary's newspaper", it is independent from the University administration and from the Student Union. It has a circulation of 4,000 as well as approximately 50,000 monthly online hits. In 2017, it transitioned from a weekly newspaper to a monthly magazine, but returned to the newspaper format (biweekly) in 2019. ''Fast Forward Weekly'' (''FFWD'') was a news and entertainment weekly which provided news, alternative viewpoints, entertainment information, review articles and specialized advertising. It was distributed throughout Calgary, Banff and Canmore. It is owned by Great West Newspapers. With an assessed readership of 70,000 upon a distributed circulation of 30,000, the paper was one of the most widely circulated and well-respected alternative newspapers in Canada. The paper originated in December 1995 as Calgary's first alternative weekly publication. Mysticism is popularly known as becoming one with God or the Absolute, but may refer to any kind of ecstasy or altered state of consciousness which is given a religious or spiritual meaning. It may also refer to the attainment of insight in ultimate or hidden truths, and to human transformation supported by various practices and experiences. Free will is the capacity of agents to choose between different possible courses of action unimpeded. Free will is closely linked to the concepts of moral responsibility, praise, culpability, sin, and other judgements which apply only to actions that are freely chosen. Tetris
''Tetris'' (russian: link=no, Тетрис) is a puzzle video game created by Soviet software engineer Alexey Pajitnov in 1984. It has been published by several companies for multiple platforms, most prominently during a dispute over the appropriation of the rights in the late 1980s. After a significant period of publication by Nintendo, the rights reverted to Pajitnov in 1996, who co-founded the Tetris Company with Henk Rogers to manage licensing. In ''Tetris'', players complete lines by moving differently shaped pieces (tetrominoes), which descend onto the playing field.
