Roger Stephen Kimmerly is a Canadian former politician, who represented the electoral district of Whitehorse South Centre in the Yukon Legislative Assembly from 1981 to 1989. The Yukon Liberal Party (french: Parti libéral du Yukon) is a political party in the territory of Yukon, Canada. The party is not organizationally linked to the federal Liberal Party of Canada in any official manner. Sandy Silver, MLA for Klondike, is the Leader of the Yukon Liberal Party and Premier of Yukon. History After twenty years as a minor party, the Yukon Liberal Party won the 2000 general election and formed a government under Premier Pat Duncan. The government, however, was reduced to minority government status. Duncan called a snap election for November 2002 in the hope of regaining her government's majority. The party was almost completely wiped out, however, by the Yukon Party. Duncan won the Liberals' sole seat in the Yukon Party's landslide. The ''Whitehorse Star'' is one of two newspapers in Whitehorse, Yukon, Canada. When founded in 1900 it appeared only once a week, and its progress to Monday through Friday publication occurred in fits and starts; it was issued twice a week for a time, and then three times a week in the 1960s and five times a week from around 1980 to 1982. In 1982, the paper changed to publishing three times a week. The paper returned to publishing five times a week in 1985 until 2019. It is presently an afternoon newspaper, usually available after 3 p.m.; its cover price is $1.00.
