River Media
River Media was an Irish media group that was founded in 2005. It operated local newspapers and local news websites in County Donegal, County Londonderry and County Kildare. River Media was based in Letterkenny, County Donegal, but it also had offices in Derry City, Dungiven, Buncrana, Donegal Town and Kildare. In November 2018, it was announced that River Media had sold their 7 weekly newspapers to Iconic Newspapers. Letterkenny
Letterkenny ( ga, Leitir Ceanainn , meaning 'hillside of the O'Cannons'), nicknamed 'the Cathedral Town', is the largest and most populous town in County Donegal, a county in Ulster, the northern province in Ireland. Letterkenny lies on the River Swilly in East Donegal in the north-west of Ulster, and has a population of 19,274. It is the 36th largest settlement in all of Ireland by population (placing it ahead of Sligo, Larne, Banbridge, Armagh and Killarney), and is the 15th largest settlement by population in the province of Ulster (most of which comprises the separate jurisdiction of modern-day Northern Ireland). Donegal Town
Donegal ( ; , "fort of the foreigners") is a town in County Donegal, Ireland. The name was also historically spelt 'Dunnagall'. Although Donegal gave its name to the county, now Lifford is the county town. From the 15th until the early 17th century, Donegal was the 'capital' of Tyrconnell (), a Gaelic kingdom controlled by the O'Donnell dynasty of the Northern Uí Néill. Donegal is in South Donegal and is located at the mouth of the River Eske and Donegal Bay, which is overshadowed by the Blue Stack Mountains ('the Croaghs'). The ''Derry News'' is a newspaper based and published in Derry, Northern Ireland. History It was first published in February 2001. The newspaper changed hands in the summer of 2006, when a consortium including River Media and the ''Irish News'' acquired the title from the McCarroll family. The newspaper was revamped and printed in full colour resulting in a significant upturn in sales. The ''Derry News'' is edited by John Gill. The ''Inish Times'' is a local Irish newspaper based in Buncrana in Donegal's Inishowen peninsula. It serves the Inishowen area and is also sold in nearby areas such as Derry and Letterkenny. The paper, which is published each Tuesday, was first started in 1999 and is now part of the River Media group of publications which include the ''Letterkenny Post'' and the '' Donegal Post''. The editor, Catriona Gallen, was at the helm at the paper's relaunch in 2010. Buncrana
Buncrana ( ; ) is a town in County Donegal, Ireland. It is beside Lough Swilly on the Inishowen peninsula, northwest of Derry and north of Letterkenny. In the 2016 census, the population was 6,785 making it the second most populous town in County Donegal, after Letterkenny, and the largest in Inishowen. Buncrana is the historic home of the O'Doherty family, O'Doherty clan and originally developed around the defensive tower known as O'Doherty's Keep at the mouth of the River Crana. Dungiven () is a small town, townland and civil parish in County Londonderry, Northern Ireland. It is near the main A6 Belfast to Derry road, which bypasses the town. It lies where the rivers Roe, Owenreagh and Owenbeg meet at the foot of the Benbradagh. Nearby is the Glenshane Pass, where the road rises to over . It had a population of 3,288 people in the 2011 Census, an increase of 10% over the 2001 population of 2,993. It is within Causeway Coast and Glens district council area.
