Quebec Senior Lacrosse League
The Quebec Senior Lacrosse League (QSLL) is a senior B box lacrosse league based in Quebec. The league also includes a team based in Ottawa. QSLL is sanctioned by the Fédération de crosse du Québec. Winners of the league advance to compete in the Presidents Cup tournament, the national championship of Senior B box lacrosse in Canada. Presidents' Cup history Kahnawake Mohawks have a long history, representing the Iroquois Lacrosse Association (now FNLA) at the Presidents' Cup tournament six times before the formation of the QSLL. The Mohawks were silver medallists in 1968, 1979 and 2016 as well as bronze medallists in 1987, 1996 and 2000. In total, the Mohawks have been Presidents' Cup medallists ten times. Box Lacrosse
Box lacrosse, also known as boxla, box, or indoor lacrosse, is an indoor version of lacrosse played mostly in North America. The game originated in Canada in the 1930s, where it is more popular than field lacrosse. Lacrosse is Canada's official national summer sport. Box lacrosse is played between two teams of five players and one goalie each, and is traditionally played on an ice hockey rink once the ice has been removed or covered. The playing area is called a box, in contrast to the open playing field of field lacrosse. The object of the game is to use a lacrosse stick to catch, carry, and pass the ball in an effort to score by shooting a solid rubber lacrosse ball into the opponent's goal. Fédération De Crosse Du Québec
The Fédération de crosse du Québec (FCQ) is the governing body of lacrosse in Quebec, Canada. Its purpose is to encourage the development of lacrosse in Québec and to contribute to the sport's growth internationally. The FCQ governs all box, field, and women's field lacrosse in Québec. The Fédération has approximately 2,000 members including players, coaches, referees and others. The Fédération has two teams registered in the Ontario Lacrosse Association JrC league. The Fédération de crosse du Québec also has a SrB league that is considered semi-pro as some players are paid. It is not uncommon for National Lacrosse League professionals to be signed to a Quebéc SrB team, or teams they encounter in league crossover games. Presidents Cup (box Lacrosse)
The Presidents Cup is the national Senior-level box lacrosse championship for the Canadian Lacrosse Association. The annual Championship awards a "Gold", "Silver", and "Bronze" placing. The skill levels have been adjusted in recent years; Senior "B" teams from across Canada now compete for the Presidents Cup (as before it was all Senior teams). Senior "A" is now represented by Ontario's Major Series Lacrosse and the Western Lacrosse Association (British Columbia), who compete for the Mann Cup. First Nations Lacrosse Association
First Nations Lacrosse Association (formerly Iroquois Lacrosse Association) is the governing body of lacrosse for First Nations within Canada and Native American tribes within the United States. The First Nations Lacrosse Association (FNLA) oversees five national teams, the Iroquois men's national lacrosse team, the Iroquois men's national under-19 lacrosse team, the Haudenosaunee women's national lacrosse team, the Haudenosaunee women's national under-19 lacrosse team, and the Iroquois national indoor lacrosse team. The Three Nations Senior Lacrosse League (TNSLL) is a Senior B box lacrosse league based out of Ontario, Quebec and New York, sanctioned by the First Nations Lacrosse Association (FNLA). The league champion earns a spot in the Presidents Cup, the national championship of Senior B lacrosse in Canada. History 2009 Akwesasne Thunderbirds, Cornwall Island Redmen and Massena Muskies played an inter-league schedule with the Quebec Senior Lacrosse League (QSLL). The Kahnawake Mohawk Territory (french: Territoire Mohawk de Kahnawake, in the Mohawk language, ''Kahnawáˀkye'' in Tuscarora) is a First Nations reserve of the Mohawks of Kahnawá:ke on the south shore of the Saint Lawrence River in Quebec, Canada, across from Montreal.
