Palazzo Pepoli Campogrande
The Palazzo Pepoli Campogrande, also known as ''Palazzo Pepoli Nuovo'', is a Baroque style palace on Via Castiglione 7 in central Bologna, region of Emilia-Romagna, Italy. In 2015, it served as a public art gallery for late-Baroque art. Across the Via, rises the medieval ''Palazzo Pepoli Vecchio'', also once pertaining to the same family, which now serves as a museum of the history of Bologna. History The palace was built in the mid-1600s by designs by Francesco Albertoni and Giuseppe Antonio Torri, and commissioned by Count Odoardo Pepoli of the aristocratic Pepoli family. In the 20th century, the new owner Edvige Campogrande donated this floor to the city for the establishment of a museum. The entrance has monumental staircase leading to a piano nobile with frescoed rooms. Iacopo Negretti (1548/50 – 14 October 1628), best known as Jacopo or Giacomo Palma il Giovane or simply Palma Giovane ("Young Palma"), was an Italian painter from Venice and a notable exponent of the Venetian school. Giovanni Battista Piazzetta (also called Giambattista Piazzetta or Giambattista Valentino Piazzetta) (February 13, 1682 or 1683 – April 28, 1754) was an Italian Rococo painter of religious subjects and genre scenes. Biography Piazzetta was born in Venice, the son of a sculptor Giacomo Piazzetta, from whom he had early training in wood carving. Starting in 1697 he studied with the painter Antonio Molinari. By Piazzetta's account, he studied under Giuseppe Maria Crespi while living in Bologna in 1703–05, although there is no record by Crespi of formal tutelage. Thanks to Crespi, Carlo Cignani's influence reached Piazzetta. Ludovico Carracci
Ludovico (or Lodovico) Carracci (21 April 1555 – 13 November 1619) was an Italian, early-Baroque painter, etcher, and printmaker born in Bologna.
