Pagan Babies is an American hardcore punk band from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. They have been active with their current line-up since January, 2011. The release of ''Nazi Is Through'' in February 2019 marked the first recording with their longest-active line-up. Their energy is still on full-display in their live performances playing shows with bands like the Adicts, Slapshot, Alone in a Crowd, Maximum Penalty, Terror, Evacuate, and Ruin, among others. History Founded by Michael J. McManus, vocals and lyrics, Eric Squadroni, lead guitar, Mark Pingitore, bass, Dan McGinnis, rhythm guitar, and Bruce Boyd, drums. From their first practices in the Fall of 1986 to their last shows in the Winter of 1989, the Pagan Babies were an active and influential band in the hardcore/punk community. Hardcore punk (also known as simply hardcore) is a punk rock music genre and subculture that originated in the late 1970s. It is generally faster, harder, and more aggressive than other forms of punk rock. Positive Force
Positive Force DC is an activist organization founded in 1985 by members of the punk community in Washington, D.C. It has organized hundreds of benefit concerts for community and activist groups, and worked alongside Fugazi, Bikini Kill, Nation of Ulysses, Girls Against Boys, Q and Not U and other bands arising from the capital’s punk scene. Positive Force has also engaged in many other forms of progressive activism in the D.C. area, and from about 1985 to the mid-1990s there was a Positive Force house in Arlington, Virginia, where various members of the group lived and which the organization operated from. The Adicts
The Adicts are a British punk rock band from Ipswich, Suffolk, England. One of the most popular punk rock bands in the 1980s, they were often in the indie charts during that decade. The Adicts originated as The Afterbirth in late 1975 but never had any music or played any shows. They later became The Pinz. They soon changed their name to the Adicts and became known for their distinctive '' Clockwork Orange'' "droog" image. "Droog" is a noun derived from the fictional Nadsat language, meaning "friend" (a combination of Russian and English). This image, along with their urgent, uptempo music and light-hearted lyrics, helped set them apart from other punk bands. Slapshot (band)
Slapshot is an American hardcore punk band from Boston, Massachusetts. The band has been active for over 30 years, releasing eight studio albums and a number of singles and EPs over that time period. Though there have been constant line-up changes, founding member Jack "Choke" Kelly has remained a constant member of the band and its primary vocalist and leader. Evacuate is an American six piece punk rock band from Southern California, founded in 2007. With influences ranging from the Sex Pistols, Chelsea, U.K. Subs, Broken Bones, Negative Approach and the English Dogs, Evacuate's releases and live sets cover a wide range of the punk rock spectrum. Ruin (punk Band)
Ruin was an American punk band from Philadelphia. Their first live shows and recordings date to 1980, with founders Damon Wallis and Glenn Wallis on guitars, Steve Marasco on bass, and J.R. Arters on drums. By 1982, the lineup of Ruin was largely settled: Vosco (Thomas Adams) on vocals, Cordy Swope on bass, the Wallis brothers on guitars, and Richard Hutchins on drums. Paul Della Pelle became the drummer when Hutchins left the band in 1984. All six members played the so-called "ReUnIoN" shows in 1996, 1997, 2013, and 2016. Grotus
Grotus, stylized as G̈r̈oẗus̈, was an industrial rock band from San Francisco, active from 1989 to 1996. Their unique sound incorporated sampled Folk music, ethnic instruments, two drummers, two bassists, and featured angry but humorous lyrics. Biography The group started in 1989, when Adam Tanner and John Carson, burned out from failed rock bands, decided to make music for films, and bought 2 Akai S-950 samplers. Having technical difficulties, they asked their friend Lars Fox to help figure out how to use them, and Fox asserted himself as their singer. Their first songs came quickly, and the trio headed to Dancing Dog Studio in Emeryville, California, Emeryville, to record with David Bryson (soon to be a member of Counting Crows).
