Lichtenhain/Bergbahn is a former municipality in the district Saalfeld-Rudolstadt, in Thuringia, Germany. Since 1 December 2008, it is part of Oberweißbach. History Lichtenhain/Bergbahn was first mentioned in 1455 and is located on the ancient trade route from Erfurt to Nuremberg. It once belonged to the sovereignty of Schwarzburg-Rudolstadt, later to the Principality of Schwarzburg-Rudolstadt. In the Thirty Years' War the town was completely devastated. The main source of income of the residents was originally forestry, Charcoal burner, charcoal burning and resin extraction. Later the trading of nature medicines ("''Olitäten''") became a major economic driver. In 1812 Lichtenhain/Bergbahn counted 375 inhabitants which rose to 524 in 1902. In 1923, the Oberweißbacher mountain railway opened which connected Lichtenhain with national railway network. Friedrich Fröbel
Friedrich Wilhelm August Fröbel or Froebel (; 21 April 1782 – 21 June 1852) was a German pedagogue, a student of Johann Heinrich Pestalozzi, who laid the foundation for modern education based on the recognition that children have unique needs and capabilities. He created the concept of the ''kindergarten'' and coined the word, which soon entered the English language as well. He also developed the educational toys known as Froebel gifts. Biography Friedrich Fröbel was born at Oberweißbach in the Principality of Schwarzburg-Rudolstadt in Thuringia. A cousin of his was the mother of Henriette Schrader-Breymann, and Henriette became a student of his. Fröbel's father, Johann Jacob Fröbel, who died in 1802, was the pastor of the orthodox Lutheran (alt-lutherisch) parish there. Fröbel's mother's name was Jacobine Eleonore Friederike (born Hoffmann). Murder Of Michèle Kiesewetter
Michèle Kiesewetter (10 October 1984, in Oberweißbach – 25 April 2007, in Heilbronn), a Germans, German police officer, was killed by Neo-Nazism, neo-Nazi Terrorism, terrorists. On the 25 April 2007, Michèle Kiesewetter and her partner were on patrol in their police car. At approximately 2:00p.m., they stopped in a corner of a large parking lot in Heilbronn to have a lunch break. Shortly after, both officers were ambushed and shot in the head by two gunmen, approaching from behind the vehicle. Michèle Kiesewetter, sitting in the driver's seat, was fatally injured. Her partner, sitting in the passenger's seat, was heavily injured, but survived the attack. When the police and the ambulance arrived on the scene, both officers were lying on the ground, next to their car, and their handguns and handcuffs were stolen. Rudolph Beyer
Rudolph Beyer (October 30, 1889 – February 23, 1970) was an American bookkeeper, chemical and surgical glassblower and Socialist politician from Milwaukee, Wisconsin. He was born in Oberweißbach, Germany, but came to Milwaukee with his parents at the age of 2. He attended the Milwaukee public schools, including two years at North Division High School. After leaving school he worked as a bookkeeper for 3 years and then entered his father's business as a glassblower. He was elected to the Wisconsin State Senate representing the Milwaukee-based 5th Senate district, in 1918, receiving 6,374 votes to 6,237 for Charles B. Perry (Rep.) and 3,371 for Joseph Phillips (Dem.). He served one term (1919–1922), and was the Socialist candidate for Lieutenant Governor of Wisconsin in 1950, coming in third.
