Metronomy
Metronomy are an English electronic music group formed in 1999. As of 2021, the band consists of Joseph Mount (vocals, keyboards and guitar), Oscar Cash (keyboards, backing vocals, guitar and saxophone), Anna Prior (drums and vocals), Olugbenga Adelekan (bass guitar and vocals) and Michael Lovett (keyboards and guitars). Their music consists of vocal and instrumental electronic pop music. Mount also releases remixes under the name Metronomy, and has remixed many artists including Gorillaz, Sebastien Tellier, Roots Manuva, Franz Ferdinand, Klaxons, Goldfrapp, Young Knives, Zero 7, Ladytron, Kate Nash, Lady Gaga and Lykke Li. The English Riviera (album)
''The English Riviera'' is the third studio album by English electronic music band Metronomy, released on 8 April 2011 by Because Music. Following the release of their second studio album, '' Nights Out'' (2008), founding member Gabriel Stebbing left the band (on this album, Olugbenga Adelekan had joined on bass and Anna Prior had joined on drums). However, Stebbing recorded the bass parts on the album prior to his departure. The album was nominated for the 2011 Mercury Prize. Singles "She Wants" was released as the lead single from the album on 26 January 2011. The promo video (directed in Jul & Mat) takes place during a house party with the action being played out in reverse in one continuous take. The bandmembers are absent although pictures of the group's faces can be seen throughout the video. Critical reception ''Small World'' received generally favourable reviews from music critics. ''Summer 08'' is the fifth studio album by English electronic music band Metronomy, released on 1 July 2016 by Because Music. Recording and release ''Summer 08'' is Metronomy's first album recorded solely by member Joseph Mount since their debut effort, '' Pip Paine (Pay the £5000 You Owe)''. Its title and release date was announced on BBC Radio 1 in an interview with Annie Mac on 11 May 2016, simultaneously with a release of the album's first single, "Old Skool". Collin Robinson of ''Stereogum'' called the song a "disco-leaning, 808-heavy, DJ-scratching throwback of a jam." The track "Mick Slow" samples most of the track "Weather the Windmill" from Mick Karn's first solo album, '' Titles''. It peaked at number seven on the UK Albums Chart, becoming the band's highest-charting album to date. Reception ''Love Letters'' received mostly positive reviews from music critics. According to critic review aggregator Metacritic, the album has received a score of 73 out of 100, based on 26 reviews, indicating "generally favorable reviews". Heather Phares of AllMusic writes that "Musically and emotionally, ''Love Letters'' is rawer than what came before it, trading breezy synth pop for insistent psych-rock and soul influences. Nights Out
''Nights Out'' is the second studio album by English electronic music band Metronomy, released on 8 September 2008 by Because Music. Background The starting point for the album was, according to lead singer Joseph Mount, "a half-arsed concept album about going out and having a crap time." Mount wrote and recorded most of the album by himself, but instrumentalists Gabriel Stebbing and Oscar Cash "play bits on a couple of tracks on the album and it's kind of become... Joseph Mount
Joseph Patrick Kennith Mount (born 11 September 1982) is an English musician and record producer. He is the founder of British band Metronomy. Biography Mount started out as a rock and roll drummer, playing in various bands at school and then in his mid teens with The Upsides and The Customers. He also taught drums to kids in his local area. His first forays into electronic music started with him buying an old G3 computer from his father. It was with this setup that he set about creating beats and discovered he knew a lot more about melody than he thought he did and he began to compose music under the Metronomy moniker. Mount attended Brighton University; fellow alumni are Samuel Preston, Good Shoes, The Maccabees and DJ Scotch Egg. Olugbenga Adelekan
Olugbenga Adelekan, also known as Olugbenga, is a Nigerian-born music producer. Olugbenga performs as a solo artist and as the bass player of the Mercury Music Prize Award-nominated band Metronomy. Biography Born in Lagos, Nigeria, Olugbenga moved with his family to The Hague, The Netherlands before returning to Nigeria in his teens. At the age of 16 he settled in England, where he started making original music. Olugbenga studied English literature at King's College, Cambridge. Olugbenga's brother Seye Adelekan is also a professional musician, playing with Gorillaz as their live bassist. Totnes
Totnes ( or ) is a market town and civil parishes in England, civil parish at the head of the estuary of the River Dart in Devon, England, within the South Devon Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Ladytron are a largely British electronic band formed in Liverpool in 1999. The group consists of Helen Marnie (lead vocals, synthesizers), Mira Aroyo (vocals, synthesizers), Daniel Hunt (synthesizers, guitar, vocals), and Reuben Wu (synthesizers).
