Ladytron
Ladytron are a largely British electronic band formed in Liverpool in 1999. The group consists of Helen Marnie (lead vocals, synthesizers), Mira Aroyo (vocals, synthesizers), Daniel Hunt (synthesizers, guitar, vocals), and Reuben Wu (synthesizers). They have released six studio albums: ''604'' (2001), ''Light & Magic'' (2002), ''Witching Hour'' (2005), ''Velocifero'' (2008), ''Gravity the Seducer'' (2011) and ''Ladytron'' (2019) - the seventh, ''Time's Arrow'' is due in January 2023. They also issued the live album '' Live at London Astoria 16.07.08'' in 2009 and the compilation album ''Best of 00–10'' in 2011. They have produced remixes for artists such as David Gahan, Erasure, Goldfrapp, Apoptygma Berzerk, Placebo, Blondie, Gang of Four, Christina Aguilera, Nine Inch Nails, Bloc Party, Kings of Convenience, Soulwax and Róisín Murphy. Ladytron (album)
''Ladytron'' is the sixth studio album by English electronic music band Ladytron. It was released on 1 February 2019 through PledgeMusic as well as their Ladytron Music imprint via !K7. The songs "The Animals", "The Island", "Far from Home", and "Deadzone" have been released as singles. Daniel Hunt has described the album as "heavier" than the group's previous album, ''Gravity the Seducer'' (2011). ''Ladytron'' received generally positive reviews from critics and debuted at number twenty-six on the Scottish albums chart. 604 (album)
''604'' is the debut studio album by English electronic music band Ladytron, released in the United States on 6 February 2001 by Emperor Norton Records and in the United Kingdom on 12 March 2001 by Invicta Hi-Fi. It was co-produced, engineered and mixed by Lance Thomas. Some of the tracks had been previously released on their EPs ''Miss Black and Her Friends'' (1999), ''Mu-Tron EP'' (2000) and ''Commodore Rock'' (2000). On 20 July 2004, ''604'' was reissued in the US with four bonus tracks, the first three being live recordings made on 16 May 2003 at the Central Military Club in Sofia, Bulgaria. The January 2011 re-release of the album on Nettwerk also features these same bonus tracks. In a 2002 interview with online magazine Chaos Control, Daniel Hunt stated that the album was named after the area code 604, area code for British Columbia. ''Light & Magic'' is the second studio album by English electronic music band Ladytron. It was released in the United States on 17 September 2002 by Emperor Norton and in the United Kingdom on 2 December 2002 by Telstar Records. The album has been reissued multiple times, most recently by Nettwerk in January 2011. An earlier version of the song "NuHorizons" appeared as a B-side to the band's 2001 single "The Way That I Found You", under the title "Holiday 601". ''Witching Hour'' is the third studio album by English electronic music band Ladytron, released on 3 October 2005 through Island Records internationally and Rykodisc in the United States. The album was promoted by four singles: "Sugar", "Destroy Everything You Touch", "Weekend" and "Soft Power". ''Velocifero'' is the fourth studio album by English electronic music band Ladytron and their first to be released by Nettwerk. The album was first released digitally on 19 May 2008, followed by a physical release on 2 June in the United Kingdom and on 3 June elsewhere. Mira Aroyo
Mira Aroyo ( bg, Мира Аройо, ; born 11 July 1977) is a Bulgarian singer, musician, songwriter, DJ, and geneticist. She is best known as the keyboardist, co-lead vocalist, and co-songwriter of the electronic band Ladytron, which she co-founded in Liverpool in 1999. She writes and performs her Ladytron lyrics in both Bulgarian and English. Early life Aroyo was born in Sofia on 11 July 1977, the daughter of Jewish parents. She moved with her family to Israel when she was 10, and later to England. The first musical instrument that she played was the guitar, having also played the accordion when she was younger. ''Best of 00–10'' is a greatest hits album by English electronic music band Ladytron. It was released on 28 March 2011 by Nettwerk. The compilation includes remastered material spanning from the band's previous studio albums, as well as two previously unreleased tracks—lead single " Ace of Hz" and a cover version of Death in June's 1992 song "Little Black Angel". A deluxe version was also released, featuring a bonus disc of 16 additional tracks and an 80-page photo booklet. Helen Marnie
Helen Marnie (born 21 February 1978) is a Scottish musician, known as the lead vocalist and one of the keyboardists and songwriters of the electronic band Ladytron. In 2012, she started a solo career as Marnie and released her debut solo album ''Crystal World'' on 11 June 2013. Her second solo album, '' Strange Words and Weird Wars'', was released on 2 June 2017. Biography Helen Marnie was born in Glasgow, Scotland, and grew up in the same city. She is a classically trained pianist. Marnie studied classical piano at the Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama in Glasgow. She dropped out of university in Glasgow before going on to study music at the University of Liverpool, England where she received in 1999 a BA in pop music. Reuben Wu
Reuben Wu (born 1975) is a British artist, photographer, musician, and industrial designer. He is also known as a keyboardist, songwriter, and producer for the electronic band Ladytron. Biography Reuben Wu was born in Liverpool in 1975, the son of Hongkonger immigrants. He trained in industrial design at Sheffield Hallam University, graduating in 1997. Meanwhile, he met Daniel Hunt in Liverpool in 1994; they formed Ladytron in 1999, along with Mira Aroyo and Helen Marnie. Wu finished his MSc in 1998 at the University of Liverpool. He worked as an industrial designer until going full-time with the band in 2002. Wu hand drew the artwork of the UK edition of Ladytron's first album ''604'' and began to document his travels on tour with the band via photography. Daniel Hunt
Daniel Hunt (born 25 July 1974) is an English musician, songwriter and producer. He is a founding member, principal songwriter and producer of the electronic band Ladytron. Biography Hunt met Reuben Wu in Liverpool in 1995 and formed Ladytron with him in 1999, along with Mira Aroyo and Helen Marnie. In 2003, Hunt set up the Liverpool club, Evol and subsequently collaborated in 2005 on the celebrated Korova bar in the city. In addition to the band, he also DJ's around the world both solo and with other band members. His vocals are featured in the Ladytron' songs "International Dateline" and "Versus". Emperor Norton Records was a Los Angeles-based electronica, hip-hop, and dance-music record label. Among the artists featured on the label were Ladytron, Arling & Cameron, Money Mark, Ugly Duckling, and Fantastic Plastic Machine.
