''Love Letters'' is the fourth studio album by English electronic music band Metronomy, released on 10 March 2014 by Because Music. It peaked at number seven on the UK Albums Chart, becoming the band's highest-charting album to date. Reception ''Love Letters'' received mostly positive reviews from music critics. According to critic review aggregator Metacritic, the album has received a score of 73 out of 100, based on 26 reviews, indicating "generally favorable reviews". Heather Phares of AllMusic writes that "Musically and emotionally, ''Love Letters'' is rawer than what came before it, trading breezy synth pop for insistent psych-rock and soul influences. Confessional and insular, ''Love Letters'' is the work of a band willing to take pop success on their own terms and reveal a different – but just as appealing – side of their artistry in the process". Metronomy
Metronomy are an English electronic music group formed in 1999. As of 2021, the band consists of Joseph Mount (vocals, keyboards and guitar), Oscar Cash (keyboards, backing vocals, guitar and saxophone), Anna Prior (drums and vocals), Olugbenga Adelekan (bass guitar and vocals) and Michael Lovett (keyboards and guitars). Their music consists of vocal and instrumental electronic pop music. Mount also releases remixes under the name Metronomy, and has remixed many artists including Gorillaz, Sebastien Tellier, Roots Manuva, Franz Ferdinand, Klaxons, Goldfrapp, Young Knives, Zero 7, Ladytron, Kate Nash, Lady Gaga and Lykke Li. ''The Independent'' is a British online newspaper. It was established in 1986 as a national morning printed paper. Nicknamed the ''Indy'', it began as a broadsheet and changed to tabloid format in 2003. The last printed edition was published on Saturday 26 March 2016, leaving only the online edition. The National Syndicate of Phonographic Publishing (french: Syndicat national de l'édition phonographique; SNEP) is the inter-professional organisation that protects the interests of the French record industry. Tape Op
A tape operator or tape op, also known as a second engineer, is a person who performs menial operations in a recording studio in a similar manner to a tea boy or gopher. They may act as an apprentice or an assistant to a recording engineer and duties can consist of threading audio tape, setting up microphones and stands, configuring MIDI equipment and cables, and sometimes pressing the relevant transport controls on the recorder or digital audio workstation. Abbey Road Studios always assigned at least one tape op to each recording session. History and prospects The role of tape op was a useful entry into a professional recording environment, and several went on to successful careers as engineers and record producers. Beth Mburu-Bowie known by her stage name HowAboutBeth is an English artist, songwriter and trustee. Early life Mburu-Bowie was born in Kenya and grew up in London. Her aunt, Dr. Wanjiru Kihoro, was an influential economist, writer and feminist activist. Between 2005 and 2008 she trained and worked with the English National Opera project The WORKS, for which she composed four pieces that were performed at venues such as the London Coliseum. In 2005, Asian Dub Foundation sampled one of her choir pieces for their track "Who Runs The Place" from their album ''Tank''. Mburu-Bowie became trustee of the Roundhouse in April 2008. At the time of her nomination she was the youngest member to join the board of trustees. Olugbenga Adelekan, also known as Olugbenga, is a Nigerian-born music producer. Olugbenga performs as a solo artist and as the bass player of the Mercury Music Prize Award-nominated band Metronomy. Biography Born in Lagos, Nigeria, Olugbenga moved with his family to The Hague, The Netherlands before returning to Nigeria in his teens. At the age of 16 he settled in England, where he started making original music. Olugbenga studied English literature at King's College, Cambridge. Olugbenga's brother Seye Adelekan is also a professional musician, playing with Gorillaz as their live bassist.
