MTC Namibia PGA Championship
The MTC Namibia PGA Championship was a golf tournament on the Sunshine Tour. It was founded in 2004, the year after the PGA of Namibia was formed, and played at the Windhoek Country Club, to the south of Windhoek, Namibia until 2009 when it moved to Rossmund Golf Club in Swakopmund. After not being played in 2010, it moved back to Windhoek in 2011. Windhoek
Windhoek (, , ) is the capital and largest city of Namibia. It is located in central Namibia in the Khomas Highland plateau area, at around above sea level, almost exactly at the country's geographical centre. Nic Henning
Nic Henning (born 26 April 1969) is a South African professional golfer. Professional career Henning states he had "no choice" but to become a professional golfer as he was born into a big golfing family; his father, Graham Henning, and three of his uncles were professional golfers. He qualified for the Sunshine Tour before the 1992–93 season. His best performance during his early years was a runner-up performance at the Zimbabwe Open at the beginning of the 1993–94 season. Henning qualified for the European Tour before the 1994 season. He did not play well, recording only one top-10 and did not come close to keeping his card. He returned to South Africa where he played for the remainder of the 1990s and recorded a number of top-10s before finally winning the 1999 Vodacom Players Championship. 2004–05 Sunshine Tour
The 2004–05 Sunshine Tour was the fifth season of professional golf tournaments since the southern Africa based Sunshine Tour was rebranded in 2000. The Sunshine Tour represents the highest level of competition for male professional golfers in the region. There were 21 tournaments on the schedule. This was an increase of four from the previous year, primarily due to the addition of the Vodacom Origins of Golf Tour, a series of six regional tournaments that has been held every year since. The other new tournament was the MTC Namibia PGA Championship. The tour was based predominantly in South Africa, with 17 of the 21 tournaments being held in the country. Two events were held in Swaziland, and one event each was held in Botswana and Namibia. Two events, the Dunhill Championship and the South African Airways Open were co-sanctioned by the European Tour. Thomas Edward Aiken (born 16 July 1983) is a South African professional golfer who plays on the European Tour and Sunshine Tour. Career Following a successful amateur career, which included being named the South African Amateur of the Year in 2001, Aiken turned professional at the start of 2002. Anton Haig
Anton Jason Haig (born 8 May 1986) is a South African professional golfer. Golf career Haig was born in Nelspruit. He turned professional on 1 September 2004 and plays on the Sunshine Tour and the Asian Tour. He has won four times worldwide with his biggest win to date occurring at the multi-tour sanctioned Johnnie Walker Classic in March 2007. This victory earned him full European Tour membership and propelled Haig into the top 100 of the Official World Golf Rankings. After a poor 2009 season, Haig had to regain his European Tour card at qualifying school. Haig fared no better in 2010 and lost his card at the end of the season. The 2006–07 Sunshine Tour was the seventh season of professional golf tournaments since the southern Africa based Sunshine Tour was rebranded in 2000. It marked the last year of a seasonal calendar. The Sunshine Tour represents the highest level of competition for male professional golfers in the region. In 2005–06 there had been 21 tournaments. Of those, two tournaments were last held in 2005, but there were eight tournaments added for the 2006–07 schedule bringing the total up to 27. The tour was based predominantly in South Africa, with 24 of the 27 tournaments being held in the country. One event each was held in Swaziland, Zambia and Namibia.
