2004–05 Sunshine Tour
The 2004–05 Sunshine Tour was the fifth season of professional golf tournaments since the southern Africa based Sunshine Tour was rebranded in 2000. The Sunshine Tour represents the highest level of competition for male professional golfers in the region. There were 21 tournaments on the schedule. This was an increase of four from the previous year, primarily due to the addition of the Vodacom Origins of Golf Tour, a series of six regional tournaments that has been held every year since. The other new tournament was the MTC Namibia PGA Championship. The tour was based predominantly in South Africa, with 17 of the 21 tournaments being held in the country. Two events were held in Swaziland, and one event each was held in Botswana and Namibia. Two events, the Dunhill Championship and the South African Airways Open were co-sanctioned by the European Tour. Thomas Aiken
Thomas Edward Aiken (born 16 July 1983) is a South African professional golfer who plays on the European Tour and Sunshine Tour. Career Following a successful amateur career, which included being named the South African Amateur of the Year in 2001, Aiken turned professional at the start of 2002. In 2004, he won three times on the Sunshine Tour's Winter Swing. The following year, he topped the money list on the Winter Swing with two further victories. In 2007, Aiken competed on the Nationwide Tour, but made only three cuts, with a best finish of tied 13th in the Price Cutter Charity Championship. He gained his European Tour card for 2008 through the qualifying school, and went on to finish 131st in the money list, with a best of tied 13th in the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship, his only finish inside the top-30. Stanbic Zambia Open
The Zambia Open is a men's professional golf tournament played in Zambia, that has been part of the Sunshine Tour since 1996, and was co-sanctioned by the European-based Challenge Tour from 2001 to 2004. It was also an event on the Challenge Tour between 1991 and 1993, having previously part of the now defunct Safari Circuit. History Lusaka Golf Club has traditionally hosted the Zambia Open, but in 2005 a disagreement with the then sponsors, Stanbic, resulted in the cancellation of the tournament, with a new venue being found for the following year. Under a new sponsorship agreement, the 2008 tournament was held at Chainama Hills Golf Club for the first time, with a prize fund of 750,000 rand. Bradford Vaughan (born 14 June 1975) is a South African professional golfer. He won the South African Amateur in 1994 and turned professional the following year. He has won eight tournaments on the Sunshine Tour. He has also been a member of the Challenge Tour in Europe and has played in various European Tour events. The Royal Swazi Sun Classic was a golf tournament on the Sunshine Tour in the late 1990s and early 2000s. It was played at the Royal Swazi Sun Country Club in Swaziland. Stephen Daniel van Vuuren (born 26 September 1959) is a South African professional golfer who currently plays on the Sunshine Tour. He won 7 times on the Sunshine Tour between 1994 and 2007. Van Vuuren was born Germiston, Gauteng, South Africa. He currently lives in Mpumalanga. Nic Henning
Nic Henning (born 26 April 1969) is a South African professional golfer. Professional career Henning states he had "no choice" but to become a professional golfer as he was born into a big golfing family; his father, Graham Henning, and three of his uncles were professional golfers. He qualified for the Sunshine Tour before the 1992–93 season. His best performance during his early years was a runner-up performance at the Zimbabwe Open at the beginning of the 1993–94 season. Henning qualified for the European Tour before the 1994 season. He did not play well, recording only one top-10 and did not come close to keeping his card. He returned to South Africa where he played for the remainder of the 1990s and recorded a number of top-10s before finally winning the 1999 Vodacom Players Championship. Justin Jeremy Walters (born 23 October 1980) is a South African professional golfer. His mother is English and has played for England in team play. Walters played college golf at Huntingdon College, winning the 2001 NAIA Championship. He then transferred to North Carolina State University where he won three times and was an All-American in 2002 and 2003. He turned professional in 2003. Walters plays on the Sunshine Tour where he has won twice, most recently at the 2011 Investec Royal Swazi Open. He began playing on the Challenge Tour in 2012.
