2005–06 Sunshine Tour
The 2005–06 Sunshine Tour was the sixth season of professional golf tournaments since the southern Africa based Sunshine Tour was rebranded in 2000. The Sunshine Tour represents the highest level of competition for male professional golfers in the region. As in the previous year, there were 21 tournaments on the schedule. The Royal Swazi Sun Classic was last held in 2004, and the Telkom PGA Pro-Am was added in 2005. The tour was based predominantly in South Africa, with 18 of the 21 tournaments being held in the country. One event each was held in Botswana, Swaziland and Namibia. Two tournaments, the Alfred Dunhill Championship and the South African Airways Open were co-sanctioned by the European Tour. Thomas Aiken
Thomas Edward Aiken (born 16 July 1983) is a South African professional golfer who plays on the European Tour and Sunshine Tour. Career Following a successful amateur career, which included being named the South African Amateur of the Year in 2001, Aiken turned professional at the start of 2002. In 2004, he won three times on the Sunshine Tour's Winter Swing. The following year, he topped the money list on the Winter Swing with two further victories. In 2007, Aiken competed on the Nationwide Tour, but made only three cuts, with a best finish of tied 13th in the Price Cutter Charity Championship. He gained his European Tour card for 2008 through the qualifying school, and went on to finish 131st in the money list, with a best of tied 13th in the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship, his only finish inside the top-30. Asian Tour
The Asian Tour is the principal men's professional golf tour in Asia except for Japan, which has its own Japan Golf Tour, which is also a full member of the International Federation of PGA Tours. Official money events on the tour count for World Golf Ranking points. The Asian Tour is administered from Singapore. It is controlled by a board with a majority of professional golfers, and a Tournament Players Committee of its player members, supported by an executive team. Anton Haig
Anton Jason Haig (born 8 May 1986) is a South African professional golfer. Golf career Haig was born in Nelspruit. He turned professional on 1 September 2004 and plays on the Sunshine Tour and the Asian Tour. He has won four times worldwide with his biggest win to date occurring at the multi-tour sanctioned Johnnie Walker Classic in March 2007. This victory earned him full European Tour membership and propelled Haig into the top 100 of the Official World Golf Rankings. After a poor 2009 season, Haig had to regain his European Tour card at qualifying school. Haig fared no better in 2010 and lost his card at the end of the season. Haig announced his retirement from professional golf in November 2011 due to back injuries. Seekers Travel Pro-Am
The Seekers, or Legatine-Arians as they were sometimes known, were an English dissenting group that emerged around the 1620s, probably inspired by the preaching of three brothers – Walter, Thomas, and Bartholomew Legate. Hennie Otto
Hendrik Johannes "Hennie" Otto (born 25 June 1976) is a South African professional golfer. Otto was born in Boksburg. He has played golf on the European Tour since 2000 having graduated from the Challenge Tour, but has only finished within the top 100 on the Order of Merit twice, in 2003 when he finished tied for tenth at The Open Championship on his major championship début and in 2008 when he won the Italian Open and finished 37th on the Order of Merit. Nic Henning
Nic Henning (born 26 April 1969) is a South African professional golfer. Professional career Henning states he had "no choice" but to become a professional golfer as he was born into a big golfing family; his father, Graham Henning, and three of his uncles were professional golfers. He qualified for the Sunshine Tour before the 1992–93 season. His best performance during his early years was a runner-up performance at the Zimbabwe Open at the beginning of the 1993–94 season. Henning qualified for the European Tour before the 1994 season. He did not play well, recording only one top-10 and did not come close to keeping his card. He returned to South Africa where he played for the remainder of the 1990s and recorded a number of top-10s before finally winning the 1999 Vodacom Players Championship. Hendrik Theodor Smit Buhrmann (born 7 July 1963) is a South African professional golfer. Buhrmann was born in Vereeniging. He turned professional in 1985 and has won eight tournaments on the Southern African Sunshine Tour. Since 1995 he has also been a member of the Asian Tour and in 2006, after a string four second-place finishes stretching back a decade, he won for the first time on that tour at the Aamby Valley Asian Masters. Ulrich Van Den Berg
Ulrich van den Berg (born 13 January 1975) is a South African professional golfer. Van den Berg was born in East London. He had a successful amateur career which peaked in 1997 when he won the South African Amateur Strokeplay Championship, the Transvaal Amateur, and the Western Province Strokeplay Championship. He turned professional in 1999 and joined the Sunshine Tour. He has several tournament victories on the tour, all on the less lucrative "Winter Swing". Van den Berg played on the European Tour in 2008 having won his card at qualifying school at the end of 2007. Having been unable to play in more than 10 tournaments in his rookie season due to family reasons, he was granted a conditional card for 2009 on a medical exemption, but failed to win enough money to retain his playing status.
