Austin Mast
Austin R. Mast is a research botanist. Born in 1972, he obtained a Ph.D. from the University of Wisconsin–Madison in 2000. He is currently a professor within the Department of Biological Science at Florida State University (FSU), and has been director of FSU's Robert K. Godfrey Herbarium since August 2003. One of his main areas of research is the phylogenetics of Grevilleoideae, a subfamily of Proteaceae. In 2005 he showed the genus ''Banksia'' to be paraphyletic with respect to ''Dryandra'', Collaborating with Australian botanist Kevin Thiele, he subsequently transferred all ''Dryandra'' taxa to ''Banksia'', publishing over 120 taxonomic names in the process. Brian Jeffery Mast (born July 10, 1980) is an American politician and U.S. military veteran who has served as the U.S. representative for Florida's 21st congressional district since 2017. The district, numbered as the 18th district from 2017 to 2023, includes portions of the Palm Beaches and Treasure Coast. Mast is a member of the Republican Party. A veteran of Operation Enduring Freedom, Mast lost both his legs while serving as a U.S. Army explosive ordnance disposal technician in Afghanistan in 2010. Dennis Mast (born 15 February 1992) is a German professional footballer who plays as a left midfielder for Chemie Leipzig. Career Mast began his career with Hallescher FC, for whom he signed from Energie Cottbus in 2009, and broke into the first team near the end of the 2010–11 season. Richard Mast (born March 23, 1951) is an American professional golfer who has played on the PGA Tour, Nationwide Tour, and Champions Tour. Early life Mast was born in Bluffton, Ohio. He graduated from St. Petersburg Junior College in 1971 with a degree in business. Professional career Mast turned pro in 1972. He played on the PGA Tour intermittently in the 1970s and early 1980s. He finished fourth in the 1985 qualifying school to earn his Tour card for 1986. He kept his card through the 1989 season when he finished 173rd on the money list and lost his card. The biggest impression he made in the majors was at the U.S. Open in 1988, where he was only one stroke off the lead after the first round; he went on to finish in a tie for 50th place. Emily Mast (born 1976, Cleveland, Ohio) is a Los Angeles-based visual and performing artist. Her video and performance work has been exhibited internationally and was included in the Hammer Museum's "Made in LA" biennial in 2014. She has also performed live at LACMA, Human Resources, the Velaslavasay Panorama, Night Gallery, Public Fiction, and REDCAT. Richard K. Mast (born March 4, 1957) is a former NASCAR driver. He competed in both the Winston Cup and Busch Series before retiring in 2002. He holds a business administration degree from Blue Ridge Community College. Early and Busch career Mast grew up in racing as his father and uncle were both race team owners. He began racing at age 16 at Natural Bridge Speedway and Eastside Speedway, after he traded an Angus for his first car.
