Kigali
Kigali () is the capital and largest city of Rwanda. It is near the nation's geographic centre in a region of rolling hills, with a series of valleys and ridges joined by steep slopes. As a primate city, Kigali has been Rwanda's economic, cultural, and transport hub since it became the capital following independence from Belgian rule in 1962. Nairobi ( ) is the capital and largest city of Kenya. The name is derived from the Maasai phrase ''Enkare Nairobi'', which translates to "place of cool waters", a reference to the Nairobi River which flows through the city. Rwanda has been the center of much international attention since the war and genocide of 1994. International memberships Rwanda is a member of the United Nations, African Union, Commonwealth of Nations since November 2009; and the East African Community, and a member of the Port Management Association of Eastern and Southern Africa (PMAESA).
