Lorenz Müller
Lorenz Müller (18 February 1868 in Mainz – 1 February 1953 in Munich) was a German herpetologist. Professor Lorenz Müller was known for his studies on the Balearic Islands species of the genus ''Podarcis'' (wall lizards) during the 1920s, in which he described several new subspecies, including the now extinct Ratas Island lizard, ''Podarcis lilfordi rodriquezi''. Together with his colleague Professor Robert Mertens he made several studies about European amphibians and reptiles. Lorenz Müller died at 85 from a bronchitis. Lizard
Lizards are a widespread group of squamate reptiles, with over 7,000 species, ranging across all continents except Antarctica, as well as most oceanic island chains. Gymnophthalmidae is a family of lizards with at least 250 species, sometimes known commonly as spectacled lizards or microteiids. They are called "spectacled" because of their transparent lower eyelids, which allow them to still see with closed eyes. As in most lizards, except geckos, these eyelids are movable. The Alopoglossidae have been recently moved from this family.
