Liza Sylvestre
Liza Sylvestre (born November 13, 1983) is an American visual artist born and raised in Minneapolis, Minnesota. She is known for detailed abstract mixed media paintings and drawings. Her current work explores new media such as installation and video art. Much of her work revolves around our sensory perceptions and misconceptions of the world around. Personal life While growing up in Minneapolis she began to lose her hearing around the age of six. She had a very gradual decline in her hearing ability that became more debilitating around the age of sixteen. She had a cochlear implant surgically placed in her ear to improve her hearing in 2003 when she was 20 years old. After graduating with her Bachelor of Arts in 2006 she moved to Miami for 6 years to work and exhibit her artwork. The Milwaukee Institute of Art & Design (MIAD) is a private art school in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Founded in 1974, it offers the Bachelor of Fine Arts degree. MIAD is considered the successor to the Layton School of Art, and was formerly known as the Milwaukee School for the Arts. History MIAD’s predecessor was the Layton School of Art. Layton was founded in 1920 by Charlotte R. Partridge and Miriam Frink. The two women worked together from 1920 until their retirement in 1954 to establish Layton as an accredited institution of higher education. The Hairpin Arts Center is a community art center in the historic Morris B. Sachs building within the Chicago Community Area of Avondale at the gateway to Chicago's Polish Village. The John Hansard Gallery is a contemporary visual art gallery and part of the University of Southampton. History The John Hansard Building was originally located in building 50 in the University of Southampton building coding scheme. It was built in 1959 and was originally designed to house a tidal model of the Solent. The architect was Ronald Sims. The building was converted to gallery use in 1979-1980.
