Kabir Ahmed (footballer)
Kabir Ahmed ( bn, কবির আহমেদ; 2 February 1935 – 3 January 2019) was a Bangladeshi football player and coach. He is one of the few East Pakistani players to have represented the Pakistan national team. He was part of the legendary East Pakistani attacking trio of Kabir, Mari Chowdhury and Ashraf Chowdhury. Club career Kabir began his career with Town Club in the Barishal First Division in 1951. At 17, he joined Bengal Government Press and won the Dhaka League. In 1953, he played for Governors XI against Kolkata Mohammedan, during an exhibition match in Dhaka. In 1955, Kabir joined Dhaka Wanderers and won the league that season. The following year, he and several teammates joined Dhaka Mohammedan after a dispute with Wanderers authorities. At Mohammedan, Kabir won the league five times and the Aga Khan Gold Cup once. Jhalokati, also spelled Jhalokathi, ( bn, ঝালকাঠি) is a district in southern Bangladesh. Dhaka League
Dhaka Senior Division Football League, also referred as First Division Football League, is the third tier of football league in Bangladesh. Until 2006, it was the top-tier league of the country. It was established in 1948 as Dhaka League, while Bangladesh was still under Pakistani control. Upon the creation of the new national top-tier professional league B. League in 2007, Dhaka League was merged with Dhaka First Division League, renamed as Dhaka Senior Division Football League and introduced as second tier league. National Football Championship (Pakistan)
The National Football Championship was the men's highest level football competition from 1948 to 2003. Founded by the Pakistan Football Federation (PFF) in 1948, it was mainly held on knock-out basis. It was eventually replaced by the Pakistan Premier League from the 2004–05 season in order to professionalize the sport in Pakistan. Until 1971, it was run in parallel with the Dhaka League in East Pakistan. The National Football League era though saw Karachi based Pakistan Airlines with most championships, winning the competition nine times. Nurunnabi Chowdhury ( bn, নুরুন্নবী চৌধুরী; 1934 – January 2003), better known as Nabi Chowdhury, was a former Bangladeshi association football, football player and the first East Pakistani or Bengalis, Bengali to captain the Pakistan national football team.
