Nephi, Utah
Nephi ( ) is a city in Juab County, Utah, United States. It is part of the Provo–Orem metropolitan area. The population was 6,443 at the 2020 census. It is the county seat of Juab County. It was settled by Mormon pioneers in 1851 as Salt Creek, and it acquired its current name in 1882. It is the principal city in the Juab Valley, an agricultural area. Nephi was named after Nephi, son of Lehi, from the Book of Mormon. History Before the area was settled, the site along Salt Creek was first a camping place along the Old Mormon Road to Southern California. Juab County ( ) is a county in western Utah, United States. As of the 2010 United States Census, the population was 10,246. Its county seat and largest city is Nephi. Juab County is part of the Provo–Orem, Utah Metropolitan Statistical Area, which is also included in the Salt Lake City–Provo–Orem, Utah Combined Statistical Area. History The area of future Juab County was inhabited by nomadic indigenous peoples before the Mormon settlement of Utah beginning in 1847. The Juab Valley is a long valley located on the eastern edge of Juab County, Utah, United States. Description The valley is in a region of dissected mountain ranges and valleys in the southern Wasatch Front, with the Wasatch Range on the northeast and the San Pitch Mountains on the southeast. The valley's north-northeast edge borders on the south of Utah Valley and another section of Utah Valley's southwest, the Goshen Valley. Interstate 15 In Utah
Interstate 15 (I-15) runs north–south in the U.S. state of Utah through the southwestern and central portions of the state, passing through most of the state's population centers, including St. George and those comprising the Wasatch Front: Provo–Orem, Salt Lake City, and Ogden–Clearfield. Tintic School District
Tintic School District is a school district located in western Juab County, Utah, United States. Description The district serves the western part of Juab County, while the Juab School District serves the very eastern portion (along the Interstate 15 corridor). In addition to the residents of the more than of western Juab County, the district also serves several out of state students (from White Pine County, Nevada). The district is the second smallest of the 41 school districts within the state. History The Tintic School District was established in 1914 when the existing school districts in Eureka, Knightsville, Mammoth, Silver City, and the West Desert (the area near the Nevada border on the far west end of the county, including communities of Callao, Partoun, and Trout Creek) were consolidated. Levan ( ) is a town in Juab County, Utah, United States. As of the 2010 census it had a population of 841, and in 2018 the estimated population was 924 (an eight year increase of 9.9%). It is often said that the name of the town derives from its location near the center of Utah, because the name is "navel" spelled backwards. Several other origins have been suggested for the name, from French, Latin, or Colorado River Numic language. Mona, Utah
Mona is a city in Juab County, Utah, United States. As of the 2010 census it had a population of 1,547. It is part of the Provo–Orem metropolitan area. The city is about halfway between Santaquin and Nephi along Interstate 15. The population was 850 at the 2000 census, which at the time was sufficient under Utah state law for Mona to become a city. It did so in 2001. A farm owned by Young Living raises of lavender on the north side of town. Mona is known for its annual Lavender Festival. Rocky Ridge, Utah
Rocky Ridge is a town on the northeastern edge of Juab County, Utah, United States. As of the 2010 census it had a population of 733, and in 2018 the estimated population was 833. The town is located on the northern edge of the Juab Valley in the eastern foothills of the Wasatch Range, but entirely west of Interstate 15 (I‑15). It is part of the Provo–Orem, Utah Metropolitan Statistical Area.
