Tintic School District
Tintic School District is a school district located in western Juab County, Utah, United States. Description The district serves the western part of Juab County, while the Juab School District serves the very eastern portion (along the Interstate 15 corridor). In addition to the residents of the more than of western Juab County, the district also serves several out of state students (from White Pine County, Nevada). The district is the second smallest of the 41 school districts within the state. History The Tintic School District was established in 1914 when the existing school districts in Eureka, Knightsville, Mammoth, Silver City, and the West Desert (the area near the Nevada border on the far west end of the county, including communities of Callao, Partoun, and Trout Creek) were consolidated. Tintic High School
Tintic High School is a small rural public high school in Eureka, Utah, United States. Description Tintic High School is one of two high schools in the Tintic School District. There are approximately 145 students in grades 7‑ 12. Although the Tintic School District is in Juab County (one of two), some of its students reside in Vernon (in southern Tooele County) and in southern Utah County. The faculty consists of 11 teachers and two principals, as well as 5 support staff. There is a special education program as well as vocational, technology, home economics, and core curriculum programs. The school is classified as a 1A school by the Utah High School Activities Association. They participate in girls' volleyball, basketball, track, cross country, golf and cheer. East Tintic Mountains
The East Tintic Mountains are a mountain range in central Juab, Utah, and Tooele counties in Utah, United States on the east margin of the Great Basin just west of the Wasatch Front about south-southeast of Salt Lake City. The community of Eureka is an old mining town near the center of the range. U.S. Route 6 Passes through the central part of the range and through Eureka. The Tintic Mining District is located in the central part of the range. The district was an important producer of silver, gold and base metals during the late 19th and early 20th centuries. The mountain range, Tintic Valley, and the mining district are named after Chief Tintic of the Goshute. Silver City, Utah
Silver City is a ghost town located at the mouth of Dragon Canyon on the west flank of the East Tintic Mountains in northeast Juab County in central Utah, United States. It was a silver mining town approximately south-southwest of Salt Lake City. This area was considered part of the Tintic Mining District and also produced bismuth, copper, gold, and lead. Settlement began with the first mining strikes here in 1869. Silver City was inhabited until 1930, after the mines played out. Jesse Knight, known as the "Mormon Wizard" for his ability to find ore easily, decided to build a smelter in Silver City because it had the flattest ground in all of the Tintic Mining District. Silver City had several mines in 1890, but the mines hit water and were abandoned. Now there is little left other than a few holes where mines were, and a number of tailings piles. Mammoth is an unincorporated community and semi-ghost town in northeastern Juab County, Utah, United States. Knightsville (also known as Knightville) is a ghost town located in the East Tintic Mountains on the northern slope of Godiva Mountain, approximately east of Eureka, in the northeastern corner of Juab County in central Utah, United States. A silver mining camp, Knightsville was established and operated as a company town by local mining entrepreneur Jesse Knight. The town was inhabited from 1896 until approximately 1940. Wendover, Utah
Wendover is a city on the western edge of Tooele County, Utah, United States. The population was 1,115 at the 2020 census. Description Wendover is on the western border of Utah and is contiguous with West Wendover, Nevada.
