Inter-Provincial Trophy
The Inter-Provincial Trophy is a Twenty20 cricket tournament between the four leading cricketing provinces of Ireland. The tournament was first held by three provinces in 2013, across venues in both Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland. A fourth province, Munster Reds was added in 2017. History Background The Ireland cricket team have had huge success recently on the international level which has boosted the popularity of the game in the country. They had earned the reputation of a giant killer after upsetting teams like Pakistan and Bangladesh ( 2007 Cricket World Cup), and England ( 2011 Cricket World Cup). Cricket Ireland, officially the Irish Cricket Union, is the national governing body for cricket on the island of Ireland (both the Republic of Ireland and Northern Ireland), and oversees the national men's and women's cricket teams. 2020 Inter-Provincial Trophy
The 2020 Inter-Provincial Trophy was the eighth edition of the Inter-Provincial Trophy, a Twenty20 cricket competition played in Ireland during August and September 2020. It was the fourth edition of the competition to be played with full Twenty20 status. Northern Knights (cricket team), Northern Knights were the defending champions. On the opening day of the tournament, Northern Knights beat North West Warriors by two runs in a match affected by the rain, and Leinster Lightning defeated Munster Reds by nine wickets with twelve overs to spare. Leinster Lightning won the tournament, to claim their sixth title, after beating Northern Knights by five wickets in the penultimate round of matches. 2019 Inter-Provincial Trophy
The 2019 Inter-Provincial Trophy was the seventh edition of the Inter-Provincial Trophy, a Twenty20 cricket competition played in Ireland. It was held from 22 June to 18 August 2019. It was the third edition of the competition to be played with full Twenty20 status. The competition was split into two halves, each branded as a T20 Festival. The first half was played in June, and the second half was played in August. Leinster Lightning were the defending champions. Following the conclusion of the June festival, Northern Knights had won all three of their matches, however, two matches were abandoned due to rain. All of the matches in the August festival were abandoned due to rain, with no play taking place across all three days. As a result, the Northern Knights won the tournament. 2014 Inter-Provincial Trophy
The 2014 Inter-Provincial Trophy is the second season of the Inter-Provincial Trophy, the domestic Twenty20 cricket competition of Ireland. The competition is played between Leinster Lightning, Northern Knights and North-West Warriors. The North-West Warriors won the 2014 competition, winning by three points from Leinster Lightning. The final days matches, scheduled for Pembroke CC in Dublin, were abandoned due to bad weather, meaning that the Warriors maintained their lead at the top of the table. The player of the tournament was David Rankin of the North-West Warriors. The Inter-Provincial Series has been funded at least partly by the ICC via their TAPP programme. The 2013 Interprovincial Twenty20 Cup was the first season of the Interprovincial Twenty20 Cup, the domestic Twenty20 cricket competition of Ireland. The competition was played between Leinster Lightning, Northern Knights, and North West Warriors. Munster Cricket Union
The Munster Cricket Union is one of five provincial governing bodies for cricket in Ireland. Along with the Connacht, Northern, Leinster and North West unions, it makes up the Irish Cricket Union (now known as Cricket Ireland), the supreme governing body of Irish cricket. North West Warriors
North West Warriors is one of four provincial cricket teams in Ireland. Along with the Leinster Lightning, Northern Knights and Munster Reds, it makes up the Inter-Provincial Championship, Inter-Provincial Cup & Inter-Provincial Trophy. MTB Northern Knights is a first-class provincial cricket team in Ireland.
