Hidden Treasures (cereal)
Hidden Treasures was a short-lived breakfast cereal by General Mills. Introduced in 1993, alongside Sprinkle Spangles, the cereal consisted of sweetened corn squares that all looked the same, but were meant to be filled with a fruity filling. The icing filling flavors were cherry, orange and grape. To emphasize the treasure hunt dynamic, some pieces had no icing filling and were hollow. Pieces with a seam very close to the edge had a grape filling, off-center seams had orange, and directly center seams had cherry. Hidden Treasures was discontinued by 1995. Mascot Since Hidden Treasures was so short-lived, only two commercials were made for it. A temporary mascot was made for the first commercial, a robot named H.T. – H.T. was said to have been programmed to try to figure out what was inside each of the cereal's pieces. Breakfast Cereal
Cereal, formally termed breakfast cereal (and further categorized as cold cereal or warm cereal), is a traditional breakfast food made from processed cereal grains. It is traditionally eaten as part of breakfast, or a snack food, primarily in Western societies. Although warm cereals like porridge and grits have the longest history, ready-to-eat cold cereals appeared around the late 19th century, and are most often mixed with milk (traditionally cow's milk), but can also be paired with yogurt instead or eaten plain. Sprinkle Spangles
Sprinkle Spangles was a short-lived breakfast cereal by General Mills. It was introduced in the mid 90s, alongside Hidden Treasures (cereal), Hidden Treasures. The cereal was of star-shaped pieces covered with multi-colored sprinkles. The commercials claimed that they "Spangled every angle with sprinkles." Sprinkle Spangles were no longer available in 1998. Mascot The Sprinkle Spangles mascot was the Sprinkle Genie (voiced by Dom DeLuise). He would often appear in front of children who wished they had sprinkles for breakfast. The Sprinkle Genie's own catchphrase was: "You wish it, I dish it!" The mascot was dropped before the cereal was retired.
