Herman Jadlowker
Herman (Hermann) Jadlowker (17 July 1877, in Riga – 13 May 1953, in Tel Aviv) was a leading Latvian people, Latvian-born tenor of Russian (later Israeli) nationality who enjoyed an important international career during the first quarter of the 20th century. His virtuoso recordings of arias from ''Idomeneo'' and ''The Barber of Seville'', among others, are considered by some to be classics of the phonograph, gramophone, although reviews of his operatic performances, especially during his brief tenure in New York with the Metropolitan Opera, were decidedly mixed. Enrico Caruso (, , ; 25 February 1873 – 2 August 1921) was an Italian operatic first lyrical tenor then dramatic tenor. He sang to great acclaim at the major opera houses of Europe and the Americas, appearing in a wide variety of roles (74) from the Italian and French repertoires that ranged from the lyric to the dramatic. The Metropolitan Opera (commonly known as the Met) is an American opera company based in New York City, resident at the Metropolitan Opera House at Lincoln Center, currently situated on the Upper West Side of Manhattan.
