2013 World Championships In Athletics
The 14th IAAF World Championships in Athletics (Moscow 2013) () was an international athletics competition held in Moscow, Russia, from 10–18 August 2013. Initially, Russia won the most gold medals to top the table for the first time since 2001. It was also the first time ever the host nation took the top of the medal table. However, after disqualification of Russian sprinter Antonina Krivoshapka for doping and following redistribution of medals in the Women's 4 × 400 metres relay (as well as after series of other disqualifications of Russian athletes for doping offences), United States topped the medal table with eight golds. 2012 European Athletics Championships – Women's Heptathlon
The women's heptathlon at the 2012 European Athletics Championships was held at the Helsinki Olympic Stadium on 29 and 30 June. Lyudmyla Yosypenko of Ukraine originally came second with 6416 points and was awarded the silver medal, but she was disqualified for doping in 2013, after her biological passport profile showed she'd been blood doping. 2012 European Athletics Championships
The 2012 European Athletics Championships were held in Helsinki, Finland between 27 June and 1 July 2012. This edition marks the beginning of a new two-year cycle of the European Athletics Championships which were previously held every four years. The decision to grant the games for Helsinki was made by the European Athletics Congress on 9 November 2009. Another city that showed interest in hosting the event was Nuremberg, Germany, however Helsinki was in pole position during the whole process. This was the third time that the city had hosted the event, 1971 and 1994 being the other occasions. 2011 World Championships In Athletics – Women's Heptathlon
The Women's Heptathlon at the 2011 World Championships in Athletics was held at the Daegu Stadium on 29 and 30 August. Before the competition, reigning champion Jessica Ennis was top of the year's heptathlon rankings (6790 points) and was closely followed by Tatyana Chernova who had set a personal best. The 2009 silver medallist Jennifer Oeser was also in good form while Nataliya Dobrynska and Hyleas Fountain (first and second at the 2008 Olympics) were the other high-profile competitors. Tatyana Chernova won the gold medal finishing 129 points ahead of Jessica Ennis. Hyleas Fountain started the event powerfully, looking like she was in it to win it. She squeezed out a .02 victory in the 100 metres hurdles and added a 3 cm advantage in the high jump, just a centimeter below her personal best, to give her a 39-point lead.
