Ferraz de Vasconcelos is a train station on CPTM Line 11-Coral, located in the city of Ferraz de Vasconcelos. History The station was built by Santa Branca Farm, owner of Romanópolis company and delivered to Estrada de Ferro Central do Brasil (EFCB) on 29 July 1926. It was named Ferraz de Vasconcelos after José Ferraz de Vasconcellos, chief of 2nd Traffic District of EFCB, who died in 1924. Side Platform
A side platform (also known as a marginal platform or a single-face platform) is a platform positioned to the side of one or more railway tracks or guideways at a railway station, tram stop, or transitway. A station having dual side platforms, one for each direction of travel, is the basic design used for double-track railway lines (as opposed to, for instance, the island platform where a single platform lies between the tracks). Side platforms may result in a wider overall footprint for the station compared with an island platform where a single width of platform can be shared by riders using either track. Island Platform
An island platform (also center platform, centre platform) is a station layout arrangement where a single platform is positioned between two tracks within a railway station, tram stop or transitway interchange. Island platforms are popular on twin-track routes due to pragmatic and cost reasons. They are also useful within larger stations where local and express services for the same direction of travel can be provided from opposite sides of the same platform thereby simplifying transfers between the two tracks. An alternative arrangement is to position side platforms on either side of the tracks. The historical use of island platforms depends greatly upon the location. Poá (CPTM)
Poá is a train station on CPTM Line 11-Coral, located in the city of Poá. History With the opening of North Railway in mid-1875, supply posts were created between the stations. One of them was in Poá, then district of Mogi das Cruzes. Only on 1 March 1891 a new building was constructed and the post was promoted to station. With Poá growth, the station existing there was expanded in the 1920s. The construction of the current station started in 1985 by CBTU. Harmed by financial problems, the building of the new building were concluded only in 1989. On 1 June 1994, CBTU stations and lines were transferred to CPTM. Since them, the station belongs to this company. The Estrada de Ferro Central do Brasil was one of the principal railways of Brazil, uniting the states of Rio de Janeiro, São Paulo and Minas Gerais. Origins On 9 February 1855, The imperial government of Brazil signed a contract with Edward Price for the construction of the first section of a railway which had the aim of linking the court (then in the city of Rio de Janeiro) with the provinces of São Paulo and Minas Gerais. It was constituted as the ''Companhia de Estrada de Ferro Dom Pedro II'', under the directorship of Christiano Benedicto Ottoni.
