FC Gardabani
FC Gardabani (Georgian: სკ გარდაბანი) is a Georgian association football club from the city of Gardabani. Within less than a decade since joining Georgian football, Gardabani have had different years from the lowest division to the 2nd tier. Following the 2023 season, they won promotion to Liga 3, the third tier of the national football system. History Gardabani were established in 2015 as a municipal club. They won the regional league tournament in the very first season. Promoted to Liga 3, Gardabani took the 1st place amid a tight competition with Mtskheta and Tskhumi. The club spent one year in the second division, which has been their highest point. After getting relegated, Gardabani took part in Liga 3 for two seasons. They knocked out three teams of the 2018 Cup campaign and reached the fourth round. Liga 3 (Georgia)
Liga 3, organized by Georgian Football Federation since 1990, is the third division of professional football in Georgia. Until 2017, when the current name was introduced, it was known as Meore Liga (the Second league). Structure and league system There were 20 teams competing in the league in 2017. In 2019, when Liga 4 was formed, their number was reduced to ten, although after two seasons GFF decided to extend the league to 14 at the expense of two bottom teams from the previous season and two second-placed clubs from Liga 4 While and Red Groups. For 2022 the number of clubs was increased to 16. Seasons run based on Spring-Autumn system with each team playing an equal amount of home and away games against their league rivals. 2022 Georgian Cup
The 2022 Georgian Cup was a single knock-out football tournament, organized by Georgian Football Federation. The winner qualified for the first round of the 2023-24 UEFA Europa Conference League season. FC Saburtalo Tbilisi, Saburtalo Tbilisi were the holders, having beaten FC Samgurali Tskhaltubo, Samgurali in the 2021 Georgian Cup, 2021 Cup final. They were eliminated by FC Lokomotive Tbilisi, Lokomotive Tbilisi II in the semifinals. Regionuli Liga
Regionuli Liga (Georgian: რეგიონული ლიგა), run by Georgian Football Federation since 1990, is the fifth and lowest division of the Georgian league system after Erovnuli Liga, Erovnuli Liga 2, Liga 3 and Liga 4. Its participants are both professional clubs and reserve teams of higher league members. Prior to the introduction of Liga 4 in 2019, Regionuli Liga was the fifth tier. Structure As the name implies, the league is based on regional principle. Depending on the number of participating clubs, it is divided into several groups. In 2017, there were forty teams allocated in three groups. The next year two zones were created for teams based in Western Georgia and two more for the eastern regions. Liga 4 (Georgia)
Liga 4, organized by Georgian Football Federation, is the fourth tier of Georgian football league. It was founded in 2019 as a part of comprehensive reorganization of the league system. Structure and format In 2018, GFF decided to form an additional division between Liga 3 and Regionuli Liga by introducing Liga 4 for the 2019 season. After the first year the top two clubs were promoted to Liga 3 and the bottom two were supposed to be relegated to Regional league. However, in February 2020 the league regulation sustained new changes, which saved the doomed teams from relegation and enlarged the tournament with four more Regionuli Liga clubs. In January 2021, GFF announced that the number of clubs participating in the upcoming season would be increased to twenty, although for the next year they were reduced back to sixteen. Тhe 2017 Liga 3 (formerly Meore Liga) was the first season under its current name and 30th third-tier season in Georgia. It began on 19 March and ended on 24 November. Team changes After the 2016 season many teams changed their division. A total 56 of them were relegated from this division only, which reduced the number of participants from 64 to 20 within one season. 2016 Pirveli Liga
The 2016 Pirveli Liga was the 28th and last season under the name Pirveli Liga before the division was reorganized into Erovnuli Liga 2. It began on 19 August and ended with relegation play-off finals on 10 December. The season was transitional back to the Autumn-Spring system. Apart from this change, the league consisting of 18 teams was due to be reduced to 10 for 2017. Taking into consideration the upcoming exit of four clubs from Umaglesi Liga at the end of this season, a total of twelve teams of Pirveli Liga were doomed for relegation, while no promotion to the top tier was envisaged. Sulori Vani
FC Sulori is a Georgian football club based in the town of Vani. They currently take part in Liga 4, the forth tier of Georgian league system. The team has spent two seasons in the top flight. They play their home games at Grigol Nikoleishvili Stadium. History Sulori became champions of the Georgian Soviet league in 1969. This success enabled the club to participate in the Soviet Second Minor league the next year, which they finished in the 10th place among 18 teams. By claiming seven titles within nine years, Sulori became one of the leading members of the republican league in 1980s. In the same period twice in a row they clinched the Georgian Cup as well.
