Estonian National Bandy Team
Estonian national bandy team competed for the first time during the first period of Estonian independence, in the interwar years 1918–1940. Estonia played six international friendlies against Finland between 1923 and 1934, losing them all. Estonia got occupied by the Soviet Union in 1944 and regained its independence in 1991. The modern Estonian Bandy Association was founded in 2001 and joined the Federation of International Bandy in 2002. The re-established national bandy team participated in the annual Bandy World Championship for the first time in 2003. Estonia won the Davos Cup in 2016 but was disqualified from the 2016 Bandy World Championship. The 2014 Bandy World Championship was held between 26 January and 2 February 2014, in Irkutsk and Shelekhov, Russia. 17 nations participated in the tournament, playing in two divisions partitioned into two subdivisions. Vänersborg
Vänersborg () is a locality and the seat of Vänersborg Municipality, Västra Götaland County, Sweden with 23,882 inhabitants (out of a municipal total of 39,591) Until 1997 it was the capital of Älvsborg County, which was dissolved in 1998. 2012 Bandy World Championship
The 2012 Bandy World Championship was an edition of the top annual event in international bandy, held between January 29 and February 5, 2012, in Almaty, Kazakhstan. 14 countries participated in the 2012 championships: Finland, Kazakhstan, Norway, Russia, Sweden, the United States (group A), Belarus, Canada, Hungary, Latvia, and the Netherlands (group B), and Estonia, Japan, and Kyrgyzstan (group C). Group C was introduced, and 14 teams made the record number for Bandy World Championships. The qualifiers match between the team in the last place in Group A and the first team in Group B was not played. The United States, who finished sixth in Group A, in 2013 will play in group B, and Belarus, the winner of Group B, will play in 2013 in Group A. The 2011 Bandy World Championship was an edition of the top annual event in international men's bandy, held between January 23 and January 30, 2011, in Kazan, Russia. 11 countries participated in the 2011 championships: Finland, Kazakhstan, Norway, Russia, Sweden, the United States (group A) and Belarus, Canada, Hungary, Latvia, and the Netherlands (group B). Australia was supposed to participate but didn't come because of the floodings. At least five more countries wanted to come, but the tournament format at the time did not allow more than twelve teams. For the first time, Finland won the group stage. Russia became the world champion, with Finland second, and Sweden third. 2010 Bandy World Championship
The Bandy World Championship 2010 was held between 24 and 31 January 2010, in Moscow, Russia. Men's teams from 11 countries participated in the 2010 competition: Finland, Kazakhstan, Norway, Russia, Sweden, the United States (group A) and Canada, Hungary, Latvia, Mongolia and the Netherlands (group B). The tournament was won by Sweden, beating Russia with 6–5 after Sudden death (sport), sudden death. The standing was 5–5 after full-time and the match winning goal was conceived by Daniel Mossberg, scoring in the 110th minute. This was Sweden's tenth Championship victory in this the XXIXth Bandy World Championship. Russia won silver medals and Finland won bronze medals. 2009 Bandy World Championship
The Bandy World Championship 2009 was held between 18 and 25 January in Västerås, Sweden. Men's teams from 13 countries participated in the 2009 competition: Belarus, Finland, Kazakhstan, Norway, Russia, Sweden (group A) and Canada, Estonia, Hungary, Latvia, Mongolia, the Netherlands and the United States (group B). Belarus retained their place in group A by beating the United States in a play off in the previous tournament held in 2008. 44 games were played. 4 out of these were played on other sites than Västerås. Games were played in Solna, Stockholm, Eskilstuna and Uppsala. The main venues were ABB Arena Syd in Västerås, Sweden's largest indoor arena for bandy, and Hakonplan, an outdoor stadium.
