2010 Bandy World Championship
The Bandy World Championship 2010 was held between 24 and 31 January 2010, in Moscow, Russia. Men's teams from 11 countries participated in the 2010 competition: Finland, Kazakhstan, Norway, Russia, Sweden, the United States (group A) and Canada, Hungary, Latvia, Mongolia and the Netherlands (group B). The tournament was won by Sweden, beating Russia with 6–5 after Sudden death (sport), sudden death. The standing was 5–5 after full-time and the match winning goal was conceived by Daniel Mossberg, scoring in the 110th minute. This was Sweden's tenth Championship victory in this the XXIXth Bandy World Championship. Russia won silver medals and Finland won bronze medals. Bandy World Championships
The Bandy World Championship is a competition between bandy-playing nations' men's teams. The tournament is administrated by the Federation of International Bandy. It is distinct from the Bandy World Cup, a club competition, and from the Women's Bandy World Championship. A Youth Bandy World Championship also exists separately from the senior competition and has competitions in both the male and female categories. The 2020 Bandy World Championship for Division A was scheduled to be played in Irkutsk, Russia in 2020 but was postponed twice due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Hungary National Bandy Team
Hungary national bandy team is competing for Hungary in the international bandy tournaments. History Austria-Hungary national bandy team participated in the 1913 European Bandy Championships but it is uncertain if there were any Hungarian players. Hungary national bandy team made its international debut in the Rossiya Tournament 1990 in Novosibirsk, Soviet Union. Hungary made its world championship debut in 1991, but the team has so far not reached any medals. The Mongolian national bandy team is controlled by the Bandy Federation of Mongolia. The team took part in its first Bandy World Championship in 2006. Netherlands National Bandy Team
The Dutch national bandy team represents the Netherlands in the sport of bandy. The team made its international championship debut at the 1913 European Bandy Championships in Davos, Switzerland. However, the Netherlands did not compete in the Bandy World Championship before the 1990s, even if bandy actually has been played more or less regularly in the Netherlands since the early 20th Century. The Netherlands participated in their first World Championship tournament in 1991 and has been attending the tournaments regularly since the 2003 championship. Latvia National Bandy Team
The Latvian national bandy team took part in its first Bandy World Championship in 2007 as a replacement for Canada who had to withdraw from the competition. In 2014 they won Group B for the first time, following an increase from six to eight teams in Group A. Qualified for Group A in 2015, they were allowed to also play in Group B, after Canada had withdrawn for financial reasons and Ukraine for political ones. After winning that tournament, they were guaranteed Group A status also in 2016, even in case of last place in Group A.
