Empire Rock Club
Empire Rock Club was a live music venue in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and an important influence on the 1980s east coast glam metal music scene. History Located at 7015 E. Roosevelt Boulevard, the Empire Rock Club was at the time of its opening, the only rock music venue in Northeast Philadelphia. In January 1985, the club began a metal music night every Sunday that was all ages. The night immediately became a success and helped start the careers of the bands Cinderella, Britny Fox, Heaven's Edge and Tangier. The Empire Rock Club was owned by Rick Blatstein who also owned the Trocadero Theatre in Philadelphia. Jon Bon Jovi, singer of the popular rock band Bon Jovi, discovered Cinderella at the club, introducing them to representatives of the music business. Til Tuesday (often stylized as til tuesday) was an American new wave band formed in Boston, Massachusetts, United States. The ''King Biscuit Flower Hour'' was an American syndicated radio show presented by the D.I.R. Radio Network that featured concert performances by various rock music recording artists. History The program was broadcast on Sunday nights from 1973 until 1993. Following the end of original programming, the broadcast continued on Sunday nights until 2005, airing previously broadcast shows. During its prime, the program was carried by more than 300 radio stations throughout the United States. Tangier was an American, Philadelphia-based hard rock band, which was active between 1984 and 1992. Biography Tangier formed in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, United States, by the songwriter and guitarist Doug Gordon, and grew up in the clubs with bands such as Cinderella, who helped the group by having Tangier open for them on their second major tour. Tangier's first, independent self-titled debut album, comprised Bill Mattson (vocals), Doug Gordon (guitar, songwriter), Rocco Mazzella (guitar, songwriter), Mike Kost (bass) and Mark Hopkins (drums). After minor local success, Gordon decided to disband Tangier, and start fresh.
