Dragon Well Manor
Dragon Well Manor (龙井草堂, pinyin ''Lóngjǐng Cǎotáng'') is a restaurant in Hangzhou, Zhejiang province, China preparing and serving food based on the ideals of sustainable slow food, serving seasonal produce sourced from local purveyors. In 2010, the owner Dai Jianjun has been awarded a medal by Terra Madre organization for his contributions to preserving traditionally made and sourced food in the increasingly industrialized China. It is noted for the attention to natural ingredients, and the insistence of maintaining a tradition Chinese culinary tradition. According to ''The New Yorker'', "it has a devoted following among Zhejiang's public figures and wealthy businessmen." Pinyin
Hanyu Pinyin (), often shortened to just pinyin, is the official romanization system for Standard Mandarin Chinese in China, and to some extent, in Singapore and Malaysia. Slow Food
Slow Food is an organization that promotes local food and traditional cooking. It was founded by Carlo Petrini in Italy in 1986 and has since spread worldwide. Promoted as an alternative to fast food, it strives to preserve traditional and regional cuisine and encourages farming of plants, seeds, and livestock characteristic of the local ecosystem. Terra Madre
Terra Madre is a network of food communities. Terra Madre network was launched by the Slow Food grass roots organization, and the intent is to provide small-scale farmers, breeders, fishers and food artisans whose approach to food production protects the environment and communities. The network brings them together with academics, cooks, consumers and youth groups so that they can join forces in working to improve the food system.
